The Director of Development is a member of the University Advancement team and reports to the Senior Director of Major Gifts. The Director is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations. It is anticipated that the Director will provide specific focus on the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences and other fundraising priorities as necessary. These efforts support and implement programmatic initiatives, capital projects, academic/athletic departments, and student support. The Director will develop and maintain a multi-interval fundraising strategy that is in alignment with University Advancement's fundraising priorities, which supports the University's strategic plan.Duties/Responsibilities85% Fundraising* Actively manage a portfolio of 50-75 major gift prospects* Achieve annual goals related to donor visits, solicitations, and gifts and pledges closed.* Generate major gift strategies and proposals that directly support the University's top fundraising priorities based on its strategic plan and major initiatives.* Collaborate with one or more MSU Denver campus colleges, departments, or programs on strategy, department updates, and fundraising support.* Support board members and other volunteers in fundraising strategy and solicitation.* Collaborate with other University Advancement teams to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects.* Ensure best possible communication between the University Advancement office and other university colleges/departments/units. Attend academic and community related meetings, participate in senior leadership strategy sessions and university task force teams, and provide regular updates to appropriate parties.10% Create an annual plan to meet goals, including informational and solicitation meetings with donors and organizations.* Have working knowledge of the MSU Denver Foundation and development policies and procedures; ensure proper database records and documentation for prospects, gifts, and proposals.* Track activities, create contact reports, prepare and/or approve briefing sheets. Have working knowledge of the university's campaigns, projects, strategic plan, and fundraising priorities.5% Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications* Bachelor's degree* 3+ years of professional fundraising experience or related experience* Previous experience working independently and as a member of a development team* Previous experience effectively managing a portfolio of prospects or related experience* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to engage, influence, and build effective, goal-oriented relationships* Computer literacy: working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; and donor or customer database management systemsImportant Note: Successful applicants will ensure their resumes clearly demonstrate that their work experience describes how they meet ALL required qualifications.Preferred Qualifications* Experience securing major gifts by strategically managing a portfolio and fostering meaningful relationships.* Experience working with volunteers or foundation board to achieve fundraising goals* Experience fundraising in an educational setting* Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software* Previous experience maintaining strict confidentiality, discipline, and integritySchedule InformationFull-time, 40 hours per weekExemptDays of the Week: Mon - FriEvenings and Weekend Work: As neededSchedule: Hybrid scheduleTravel: RarelySalary for AnnouncementUnder Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $57,600.00-$80,000.00This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
