In this role, you will manage multiple projects throughout the entire project life cycle, coordinate project information with team members, and successfully establish and maintain client relationships. Our project portfolio is diverse and includes renovations and restorations on historic and non-historic buildings, modernizations, new construction/additions on all building types for both private and public clients. If you are someone who is driven and self-motivated and enjoys unique projects and opportunities, we are looking for you!ABOUT YOU:You are a highly self-motivated, hard-working individual who will be responsible for managing multiple projects on both existing and new buildings, acting as the prime designer and project manager, and collaborating with other team members to solve unique problems. You also have the following attributes:Interest in all building components and construction technologyHigh technical proficiencyAbility to effectively present and communicate information verbally, graphically and in writingAbility to apply common sense to solve problems and make decisions on complex and unusual conditionsExperienced with Building Assessments, Evaluations and Forensic investigationsStrong time management skills and ability to manage own workflowsEffective organization and planning skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with other team members, Owners/Clients, Consultants, Vendors and ContractorsInterest in mentoring junior staffSelf-motivated and interested in career advancementAbility to manage multiple deadlines and schedulesRESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the entire project cycle from concept to completion, including Investigations, Evaluations, Studies, Design, Bidding and Contract Administration, Post Completion, as well Consulting for Owners, Architects and Engineers and Building Envelope Commissioning.Design and specify quantities and types of materials to be usedConsult with Owners, Architects and EngineersLead and direct the work of other team members, both internally and externallyManage multiple projects of varying size and complexity in varying stages of design, bidding, and construction phasesConceive and sketch design and detailsReview drawings and specifications for coordination, constructability and “bid-ability”, and produce red-linesPrepare specifications and Project Manuals for bidding and constructionUnderstand and comply with applicable codes through all phases of projects including, but not limited to, Building Codes, Accessibility Codes, Energy Codes, etc.Lead coordination meetings, project meetings, pre-construction meetings, etc. with contractors and clientsPerform and direct field investigations, existing conditions verification and construction reviewsProperly maintain project files, data, and reportsInterface with and manage sub-consultants, including but not limited to, reviewing proposals and contracts, and reviewing plans and specifications for coordination and compliance with the design intentManage and track the design/construction budgets for all projects under their controlReview and approve monthly invoicing and financial controls on projectsParticipate in project interviews and presentations with clients and industry partnersQualificationsExperience in both new construction and existing buildings including interior and exterior repairs, restorations, and renovations, as well as accessibility upgrades and modernizations.Working knowledge of AutoCAD software / BIM experienceProficient in MS Office SuiteWorking knowledge of commonly used design and construction concepts, practices, and proceduresMust be technically proficient in their understanding of building construction, techniques, and materialsThorough knowledge of federal, state, and local codesStrong ability to manage all aspects of design within project budgetsWorking knowledge of basic project management and accounting principlesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ten (10) years of experience in the industry (Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (“IIEBC’) RegistrationExperience with Massachusetts Public Procurement RegulationsIndustry registration and associations including AIA, Construction Specifications Institute, Building Commissioning Association, Passive House, USGBC LEEDAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.SOCOTEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
