Reporting to the Senior Director of Client Relations, the Director of Marketing & Communications (CSOL) is charged with promoting and advancing the school's image and reputation within the campus and alumni community, the state, the nation, and the world.

The position is the Integrated Marketing Communications account executive for Caruso School of Law and is responsible for most day-to-day and long range marketing, communications, and brand management needs for five centers and institutes, including the nation-leading Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.

The position, working closely with all IMC teams, provides strategic communication advice and counsel to the School of Law dean, administration, and alumni and advancement teams. The Director is the strategic lead for marketing efforts, the advertising budget, both print and digital, and is the liaison between the Law School and paid media suppliers. Major projects include the law school's enrollment growth marketing plan, website, campus communications hub, social media accounts, annual magazines, and weekly and monthly e-newsletters.

Duties

Enrollment Marketing: Develop, implement, and oversee marketing strategies and outbound communication that support the recruitment and enrollment goals of Caruso School of Law (CSOL), while accurately representing the CSOL student experience. Work with key marketing and enrollment leaders to develop and update personalized email journeys for prospective students.

Strategic Communications | Public Relations: Lead and oversee the strategic communications efforts of the Caruso School of Law and, in coordination with the public relations professionals within the University Marketing and Communications team, promote CSOL widely in important local, regional, and national outlets.

Print, Video, and Multimedia Project Management: Serve as the lead within the Integrated Marketing Communications team to develop, create, and launch a variety of print, video, and digital marketing initiatives that support the recruitment, enrollment, communications, and brand efforts of Pepperdine University and the Caruso School of Law.

Data, Research, and Analysis: Work closely with the Enrollment Marketing and Digital Strategy team to create reports on the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts as well and research ideas for growth. Analyze data and utilize insights to improve marketing and communications efforts.

Rankings: Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), Communications and Public Relations, and the CSOL Dean's office to review rankings data and make recommendations to help CSOL identify areas of strength and areas for potential improvement.

External Partner Management: Maintain relationships and negotiate contracts, in coordination with the Senior Director of Client Relations, Director of Enrollment Marketing and Digital Strategy, and Vice President for University Marketing and Communications, with external partners and vendors, always seeking to maximize efficiencies. Monitor and evaluate lead performance and ROI.

Skills and QualificationsRequired:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in communication, business, marketing, or advertising. Three years related to marketing and higher education experience and/or education. Computer proficiency, database management, word processing, project management, writing and editing skills. Ability to effectively produce in a highly autonomous position. Ability to delicately manage the input of multiple perspectives into one final product. Ability to articulate Pepperdine brand and a strong commitment to diversity and the Christian mission. Ability to delegate tasks. Detail oriented. Proficiency with Microsoft suite, Google Analytics, G Suite, and Mac proficiency.

Preferred:

MBA, strongly preferred; marketing emphasis. Five years of marketing experience within a higher education marketing, recruitment, or enrollment office. Supervisory capabilities, and expert knowledge in higher education and marketing trends. Leadership potential at Pepperdine University and higher education as an industry, ability to analyze and demonstrate returns on investment. Adobe Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator), survey software, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, OmniUpdate.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $93,500 - $110,000 per year.

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
