Purpose of Position:

The worship team is an important part of leading the Body of Christ, by example, in corporate worship. This ministry leader is a part-time (average of 11 hours per week) position who is responsible for building, leading, and organizing worship teams. These teams are responsible to help the congregation give all honor, glory, and praise to God as they lead worship in song. This ministry is comprised of those who have a talent for worship, leadership, and who desire to use their musical gifts in creating an atmosphere of God-honoring worship.

Key Responsibilities:

To organize teams that are comprised of individuals with different musical gifts that will work well together to create an atmosphere of God-honoring worship.

To lead the congregation to sing directly to God who deserves all the honor and glory.

Work alongside the worship team leaders, programming team, and pastors/elders/overseers to prepare songs that contribute to the message for each God-honoring worship experience.

Manage the Planning Center program, to push music out to the worship teams in a timely manner.

Expound on scriptures that pertain to the worship songs so that the congregation can better understand the songs they are singing.

Oversee the audition of musicians and vocalists. Find proper fits into the worship teams of qualified candidates. Work in tandem with pastors/elders/overseers to meet with candidates for the worship team.

Be willing to incorporate worship into training, conferences, seminars, etc. that are put on by Living Water Community Church.

Be willing to participate in community worship opportunities in which Living Water Community Church takes part.

Demonstrate a positive attitude, be friendly and welcoming both on and off the stage.

Lead the church in regular, corporate prayer.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Accountability and Direct Reports:

Reports to the elders/pastors/overseers and meets with the full-time teaching pastor for coaching on a regular basis.

Worship team leaders report to this position.

Worship team members report to this position.

Tech team reports to this position.

Authority:

To recommend biblically sound songs for use in God-honoring worship.

To create ministry descriptions and objectives for all serving in the worship ministry.

Work with the pastors/elders/overseers and speakers to pick songs for use in God-honoring worship.

To place worship team members on teams that will be able to create an atmosphere of worship for the weekend corporate worship.

Core Competencies:

Musical ability: Sing and play guitar and/or piano. Ability to solely lead worship if needed.

Valuable insight into the spiritual discipline of worship.

Strong organizational skills to plan and carry out the ministry.

Spiritual Expectations:

The worship director and praise team members need to be able to adequately express, in words, their belief in Christ and what He has done in their life - i.e., share a testimony.

Leading the congregation in worship is a focal and central part of corporate worship with the congregation. Praise team participants should be publicly living a life that reflects the character of Jesus Christ every day.

The worship director and praise team members are viewed with an assumed authority in regard to Worship. They need valuable insight into the spiritual discipline of worship.

Physical Expectations:

In a desire to strive for excellence and bring worthy offerings to Christ, the worship director and all praise team members (who are serving the subsequent Sunday) are required to attend the preceding week’s practice.

The ability to safely lift at least 40 lbs.

The ability to safely climb on a ladder as needed.

Performance Indicators:

The worship element of the weekend corporate worship meeting will be running smoothly and with purpose.

The worship teams are working with a sense of cohesion and effectively create an atmosphere of God-honoring worship.

A spirit of worship will be evident and active in the culture of Living Water Community Church.

Position Overview:

An average of 11 hours per week (at times less and at times more). The position would allow 4 paid weekends off (not Easter or Christmas) with authorization of overseeing elder/pastor.
