Job Summary:The Select Business Relationship Manager is a hybrid, results-driven role responsible for sourcing new deposit relationships and providing high-quality service to WaFd Bank’s clients who are high net worth business owners. This role requires an understanding of all products and services offered by the bank that serve this client segment and the creation of collaborative working relationships with the Retail Branch Managers to support prospective small business clients. The Select Business Relationship Manager should actively engage with branch employees, create and follow a disciplined marketing effort that includes, but is not limited to; involvement in community organizations, persistent direct calling on prospective businesses and developing/maintaining a robust network. The applicant should be a career-oriented, articulate individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills who recognizes the long-term opportunities and benefits of relationship management skills.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Reflect the corporate values and ethics of Washington Federal, including integrity, teamwork, ownership, simplicity, service and discipline.

Serve primarily in an outbound sales position that is designed to drive business and personal deposits, merchant processing, treasury management, small business loans/lines, Select mortgages and high net worth lines.

Seeks to develop new business by contacting prospects and clients to sell cross market bank opportunities for Retail branches and Commercial bankers.

Participates in community organizations to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.

Interview loan applicants, collect/analyze financials and related data in order to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request. Obtain information by direct inspection of the applicant's business and or collateral, review of interim financial reports, personal interviews, etc.

Assist clients by recognizing opportunities and making appropriate product and service recommendations with a focus on deposit growth and client/portfolio management.

Execute strategies and tactics, including offsite prospecting calls, telephone calling, going on joint calls to prospects to expand the high net worth client base and meet production goals.

Actively pursue strategies to open new accounts and add client balances to build shareholder value and increase deposit balances under management including managing the portfolio of clients via CRM software and management reports.

Ensure high level of customer satisfaction through the delivery of ‘concierge’ level service, including proactively contacting existing clients and prospects as well as being available to respond to client inquiries and requests evenings and weekends with support from the bank’s 24/7 call center.

Adhere to and ensure branch staff adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations. To that end, ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports and other recordkeeping requirements.

Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses and certifications as required.

Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications:Experience:

Two to three years of experience in business banking sales and service required.

Two years experience in outside business sales development required.

Familiarity with commercial lending.

Previous work in consumer service delivery, or client relations at a high service level.

Education/Skills/Training:

Must be self-motivated and production-oriented.

The ideal candidate will possess effective business development/client acquisition skills.

Ability/desire to coach and mentor other managers with emphasis on sales and credit.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Applicant must also be able to interact with the public, in person and by telephone, in a personable, professional manner, and handle pressure in a fast-paced, changing work environment.

Individual must be a self-starter, experienced with working in a team and individual sales environment, and have a strong track record in achieving sales results.

Computer proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, PowerBI and Outlook) is required.

Basic algebra and math skills, keyboarding, standard Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word and Outlook, and smart phone and digital channel skills.

Must have valid driver's license, satisfactory transportation and adequate insurance coverage.
