Position SummaryPharmacy Technician-Specialty Pharmacy & MTM Services will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of specialty medications to our patients. Primary responsibilities will include processing prescriptions, maintaining patient records, preparing medication orders, patient outreach to ensure medication adherence, and providing exceptional customer service.Essential Duties & FunctionsProvides assistance to the Pharmacists to ensure accurate and timely delivery of specialty medicationsAssists the pharmacist in ensuring the appropriateness of medication doses by obtaining and entering patient information as necessary.Ensures the patient receives correct medication by using appropriate dispensing procedures.Completes outreaches to patients as directed to ensure medication adherence and remove barriers for medication access.Completes simple medication reconciliation and updates patient records as instructed by the pharmacists.Maintains adequate stock of medication and supplies, uses safety precautions when stocking; ensures proper filling techniques are used when preparing medications.Manages and triages phone calls, Re-establishes priorities based on workload.Ensures insurance adjudication and prior authorizations are processed in a timely manner; Reconciles prescription fills against billing.Schedule patient appointments for pharmacist-driven clinical programs.Ensures appropriate counseling time is offered to patients and document when refused.Communicates with referring physicians' offices or insurance companies as supported by procedures or requested by pharmacists.Participates in education of new employees.Notifies Pharmacist, Manager, Pharmacy of any problems that go unresolved so that attention to the problem can occur; and understands the urgency of follow up when necessary.Generates reporting tools as necessary to support tracking and ensuring medication adherence.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Training(minimum requirements)High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.Must maintain required certifications and credentials.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationRequired Years of Experience(minimum requirements)Minimum of three (3) years prior experience as a pharmacy technician. Desirable Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field preferredMaster's degree or in active pursuit of such advanced degree preferredPharmacy technician experience in call center, medication therapy management (MTM) or Specialty Pharmacy.Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks independently.Computer experience - Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
