Description
The PC technician is responsible for the installation, testing, and overall support of university computers, classroom technology, accessories, and software for Vincennes University. Knowledge pertaining to computer systems or a related field is a requirement. The technician will regularly work with our customers. Excellent customer service is vital for this role.Duties and Responsibilities
This position participates in the configuration, installation, testing and support of computers, accessories, associated hardware and software.Willingness to work nights and/or weekends as special situations arise.Limited travel will be required to remote campus locations and/or other sites for off-site support. Employee must possess a valid driver's license.Other duties as assigned
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least an associate degree, preferably with coursework in computer science, IT, or a related field. Previous experience is a plus.
Computer Skills: Experience in most of the following areas is required:
Windows 10/11 Microsoft OfficeStandard connectors and cabling General hardware/software supportInternet TCP/IPEthernet networking MacPrinters and Scanners A/V Technology in Classrooms
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Provide technical assistance to computer system users. This will be done in-person or utilizing remote software.Ability to work and prioritize duties without constant supervision in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication, planning and organizational skills.A self-motivator with the ability and willingness to maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.Ability to interact with others including but not limited to; co-workers, vendors, students and users.Ability to update tickets and keep stakeholders informed while work is in progress and at completion.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move computer related equipment such as; computers, printers, switches, etc.
