Role DescriptionOur innovation and value-driven organization is seeking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Director/Sr. Director, Finance to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the overall financial strategy and execution for the Company. The Director/Sr. Director, Finance will work with the Executive Team and the Board of Directors to establish financial and strategic goals for the organization, and financing and investing strategies and policies to meet specific business objectives and legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements. The person in this role will oversee and direct all accounting, finance, and treasury functions, and be involved in purchasing efforts. This role will manage day-to-day accounting, tax, and payroll operations. The successful candidate will be able to operate both at a strategic level and execute hands-on, tactical tasks that our growing organization needs. This role will function as a key member of the senior management team and as advisor to the CEO with respect to Company financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:Accountable for the development and communication of short- and long-term financial strategy, including the development of financial models and budgets to support the company’s business and scientific strategy.Coordinate with management, department heads and relevant government contract managers to develop, maintain and update information and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.Prepare, produce, and present regular reports, and other communications to the Board, Executive Team and managers on the financial status of the company and proactively address upcoming needs.Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, clinical accruals, CMC accruals, etc. to ensure continuous support.Coordinate other essential accounting and regulatory activities, including technical accounting, audit, tax, management reporting, treasury operations, company registrations, and insurance.Provide support for Investor Relations as needed.Develop financial planning and policies, accounting practices and procedures.On occasion, make presentations to the Board of Directors on financial matters.Play a key role in supporting fundraising through equity financing. Evaluate financing options and support strategy for financing the company both short- and long- term.Administer all stock option plans for employees and outside consultants. In conjunction with the Executive Team, establish stock option levels for all employees.Required Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.CPA Certification is a plus.5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 2-3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity.Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial organization with flexible and collaborative style, and proactive attitude.Experience working in small to medium sized biotech strongly preferred, with proven ability to impact company culture and demonstrate flexibility in fast-paced environment.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, BILL, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.Working knowledge of CARTA (especially as it relates to Equity Management).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.Proven leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience managing government contracts is preferred.Willingness and ability to be a “hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves” leader in a lean organization while being able to synthesize work to the key elements and participate in decisions at the Board and Executive level.Known to be open, transparent, communicative, enabling and have a flexible style that changes as the business requires.Excellent communication, public presentation and facilitation skills, combined with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.Excellent team interaction skills along with demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team and influence the decisions of a team.Financially astute. Comfortable with numbers and able to quickly understand the economics of the company.
