Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team in the manufacturing industry. As a Permanent Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for proactively building quality into the manufacturing process by capturing the voice of the customer and translating their requirements into detailed documentation. Qualify both new and existing manufacturing processes while driving continuous improvement through interdepartmental problem-solving across the organization.

  • Interpret and effectively communicate customer requirements to applicable parties during the quotation process.
  • Utilizing customers’ requirements create PFMEA and associated control plans.
  • Create new and update existing master production work instructions.
  • In response to confirmed customer complaints, issue a Return material authorization (RMA).
  • Conduct risk assessments for internal/external failures.
  • Construct the bracketing rational using data to support internal and external failures.
  • Develop rework plans.
  • Generate and approve applicable deviations and waivers.
  • Qualify new and changes to existing manufacturing process (PPAP).
  • Investigate and provide disposition for potential external failures (customer complaints and warranty claims).
  • Generate new and update existing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist with external audits (customer or regulatory).
  • Facilitate interdepartmental root cause analysis.
  • Provide leadership to the Columbus quality team in collaboration with the Quality Manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • ISO9001 or IATF16949.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt and/or Lean manufacturing certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years of quality engineering experience. Plastics manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently, and lead team projects.
  • Knowledge of QC measurement tools, GD&T, CMM layouts, capability studies.
