Job Details:

We are seeking a seasoned City Planner to join our dynamic team in the Engineering industry. This is a permanent position, ideal for a candidate with a strong background in city planning and a deep understanding of environmental policies. As a City Planner, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our cities, creating sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing urban environments. You will work closely with a team of dedicated professionals in developing comprehensive plans and programs for land use in our city. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a passion for urban development and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop comprehensive plans and programs for use of land and physical facilities of jurisdictions, such as towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas.
  2. Conduct field investigations, surveys, impact studies related to planning and environmental issues.
  3. Review and evaluate environmental impact reports pertaining to private and public planning projects and programs.
  4. Advise on feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory conformance, and possible alternatives for planned public projects.
  5. Coordinate work with economic consultants and architects during the formulation of plans and the design of large pieces of infrastructure.
  6. Assess the feasibility of proposals and identify necessary changes.
  7. Present projects to planning and zoning boards, and the general public.
  8. Keep informed about economic or legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes, or environmental regulations.
  9. Work with the Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with each entity.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in city planning, with a focus on urban development and environmental sustainability.
  3. Proficiency in CEQA and NEPA, with a strong understanding of environmental policies and regulations.
  4. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and use it to inform planning decisions.
  6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  7. Proficiency in the use of GIS and other planning-related software.
  8. Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.
