Job Description:

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

Working under the direction of the Director of Marketing and College Relations, the Marketing Assistant will complete tasks in the following areas:

Website Management:

1. Updating website content and assisting with website optimization.2. Migrating content to and from various sites / intranet / portals3. SEO and SEM: Assisting with search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) efforts.4. Analytics Reporting: Using tools like Google Analytics to track and report on website and campaign performance.

Content Creation:

1. Social Media Management: Creating posts and engaging with followers.2. Scheduling Posts: Assisting with the scheduling of content for marketing campaigns; and monitoring social media channels.

Collaboration and Coordination:

1. Team Collaboration: Working with other departments (e.g., Admissions, Workforce Development) to align marketing efforts.2. Vendor Coordination: Liaising with external vendors and agencies to support marketing activities.3. Project Management: Assisting in the management of marketing projects and ensuring deadlines are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge

Familiar with basic marketing principles.Familiarity with techniques to gather and analyze market data.Skills

Strong oral and written communication skills.Excellent writing and editing skills.Excellent organizational skills and detail orientedExceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.Abilities

Demonstrated ability to utilize exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple work assignments from a variety of staff and counterparts.Demonstrated ability to perform work activities independently with little guidance/supervision.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work at all campus locations.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a higher education environment.Experience working in an office setting.
