Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires the candidate to have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR the ability to demonstrate, through a formal local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or readiness in those subjects, as appropriate).

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of transitional kindergarten students; monitor and report student progress. Knowledge of basic subjects taught in the District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading, as well as correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary are essential.

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with children in an organized setting. Early childhood education (ECE) units preferred.
