Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, the Dean of Student Success has a primary responsibility for providing leadership, planning, evaluation, development, and administrative oversight for the following areas: Counseling Services and Programs, Multicultural Retention Services, Completion Center, Assessment and Completion Centers, and Disability Services and Programs for Students (DSPS) at both the Ocean Campus and all other CCSF educational Centers. The Dean serves as the liaison and leads the coordination with other College departments in the effective delivery of student success and support services initiatives to ensure that the College fulfills its responsibility in Student Equity and Achievement mandates such as AB 705, 1705, AB 298, among others. The Dean will work collaboratively with all groups across the District to implement strategies, execution of innovative partnerships that increase student access, services, and initiatives to address disproportionality in educational success, especially for disproportionately impacted/student equity plan identified student populations.Job Duties:Oversee the District Wide academic counseling department, including, but not limited to, transfer, career, academic counseling, Veterans counseling, EOPS counseling, multicultural retention services, and disability services.Develop, implement, promote, and maintain programs to increase student success and completion.Responsible for the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of student programs and services to targeted academically disadvantaged students.Provide supervision and direction for specific programs and services established to address the disproportionality of access and success of particular groups of students to increase completion efforts.Develop, implement, and evaluate follow-up support programs and services such as those for students having academic problems, students lacking educational objectives and/or students on academic or progress probation/dismissal.Create innovative retention and technological programs to enhance and develop services for disproportionately impacted students.Work closely with the Deans of Academic Affairs, department chairs, and faculty, in the development and implementation of strategies and technology that improves student success in the classroom.Provide leadership and advocacy to enhance innovation and participation in issues related to areas of assignment to ensure student success; communicate the changing expectations, trends, and needs of educational preparation effectively to college personnel.Create and implement a system for tracking students to services received, follow-up services, including administering and evaluating the College’s Early Alert.Collaborate closely with Institutional Research to plan, facilitate, and coordinate research and professional development strategies and activities for Student Equity & Achievement Plans and Student Success that are based on data-driven assessment.Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess, identify, and implement opportunities for improvement in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.In accordance with District policies, procedures, and contracts, provides transformational leadership to the areas of responsibility as well as supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned department chairs and classified staff.Stay abreast of legislative updates and changes and provide District-wide leadership on legislation implementation to include but not limited to AB705, AB 1705, AB 928, among others.Provide leadership in the implementation of online educational plan software platforms.Coordinates the District’s response and prepares reports, based on disaggregated data regarding student participation in specific activities contained in the Student Equity and Achievement Plan.In compliance with District guidelines, recommends, implements, and monitors multiple budgets for assigned areas to ensure that the departments/programs remain fiscally sound and operate within their allocated budgets.Maintains an understanding of current ideas, research, technology, and practices pertaining to areas of responsibility through study and participation in professional organizations.Provide leadership with student learning outcomes and program review as they relate to programs and services under areas of responsibility.Prepare annual goals for the programs and services under areas of responsibility. Participates in planning activities and facilitates completion of goals.Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, organizes own work, sets priorities, and meets critical time deadlines.Collaborate with Employee Relations in resolving employee disciplinary matters; where resolution is not reached at the departmental level, serves as the administrative grievance officer in employee discipline processes.Serve on collective bargaining team(s) as determined by the Chancellor or designee in order to provide input on areas of subject matter expertise and other pertinent recommendations as needed and appropriate.Supports an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism as it pertains to improving systems of higher education for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted student groups.Serve on a variety of District and state-wide committees as assigned.Anticipates, prevents, and resolves conflicts and problems under areas of supervision.Attend Board of Trustees meetings; make presentations, submit reports, and action items related to areas of responsibility.Perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientations, disabilities, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).Earned Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education AND one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.[If you would like to claim equivalency, the Administrative Equivalency Application Form is available on the left side margin. This form will be considered as part of the application materials and must be submitted on or before the filing deadline as indicated on this job posting.]Desirable Qualifications:Master’s Degree in education, leadership, psychology, or counseling or a related field.Three years of increasingly responsible experience in administering, developing, implementing, and evaluating high impact practices that facilitate student access, success, and equity.Demonstrated experience in first-level administration and direct supervision of faculty, staff, and students.Evidence of leadership experience at the university or college level of promoting a culture of inclusivity, equity-mindedness, diversity, and anti-racism.Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.Evidence of experience administering a Student Affairs program/department in a multi-Center District, responsible for implementation of state and federal regulations in a higher education environment.Demonstrated experience in an administrative or management position in Student Affairs with responsibility for personnel, budgets, reporting, and operations.Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to California Community College systems, including the California Education Code and Title 5.Experience and knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to the Student Affairs environment.Experience with data-informed strategic planning and decision-making, accreditation, and student learning outcomes.Benefits:Choice of several health plans, plus $50,000 Group Life Insurance and Dental Care Plan.
