office@jccsoco.orgSummaryThe Jewish Community Center Sonoma County (JCC So Co) is a Jewish community center without walls committed to providing cultural, educational, social, recreational, and spiritual opportunities for a deeper commitment to, and greater participation in, Jewish life in Sonoma County and the North Bay. JCC So Co is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive, diverse Jewish community. We are known for our quality programs for seniors (Friendship Circle) and youth (Camp Chai), and for our film series (Jewish and Israeli Film Festivals). The JCC currently has 3 paid staff non-exempt, part-time employees. Currently the Board of Directors is overseeing operations. We also enjoy the services of dozens of volunteers.The Managing Program Director (MPD) of the JCC may be a full time or part time position. The MPD is an advocate for the organizations mission, vision and values and, in conjunction with the Board of Directors (Board), a partner in building the organization and sustaining its vision. The MPD is responsible for the overall day to day management of the JCC Sonoma County.Duties And ResponsibilitiesManage the JCC OfficeCreate and maintain a safe, healthy, positive and collaborative work environmentProvide financial oversight and manage the agency's day to day budget, working with the bookkeeper and TreasurerEstablish and manage lease/rent arrangements for suitable office space; oversee furnishings, technology, supplies, insurance and other office-related mattersRecruit and manage volunteers as requiredCreate, maintain and enhance social media presenceEnsure compliance with all local, State and Federal lawsWork with Part time administrator to maintain general office proceduresHREnsure agency adherence and staff knowledge of employment policies, and clear modeling of the agency's policies and values at all timesHandle payroll and benefits accountingConduct personnel searches to fill approved openings; hire, counsel and dismiss employees per established policies and regulationsConduct annual written employee evaluationsProvide and support professional development for all employeesDevelopment and FundraisingWork with the Board to maintain a working Development Committee tasked with fundraising and donor developmentBe informed about grant monies available to the JCCDevelop and implement fundraising strategies, including donor events and programs, sponsorships and grantsServe as the principal liaison with other community organizations and key constituent groupsServe as the point of contact for community and media communicationsWork collaboratively with other community organizations on joint projects and emergency responsePeriodically (quarterly) convene Jewish community leadership to address community needs and methods to collaborate to serve the communityPromote and represent the JCC in the communityInsure adequate insurance coverage for the JCC and its BoardAttend and participate in Board and committee meetings as requestedProvide the Board of Directors with adequate information to help it reach sound decisions and establish effective policiesImplement all policies approved by the BoardPresent the MPD's report at monthly Board meetings highlighting organizational and program challenges and accomplishmentsCommunity RelationsCreate and maintain relationships with other community organizations, both Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and secularProgrammingContinually evaluate JCC program relevance and suggest changes to the Programming CommitteeMonitor and ensure financial viability of individual programsOversee and monitor all programs to ensure objectives are metAttend and participate in community wide events and JCC sponsored programs understanding that many will require evening and weekends attendanceIn partnership with the Programming Committee, introduce and oversee programs and earned income opportunities that fit our missionWork with Board of Directors and/or committees to create programmingCo-lead and participate in strategic planning process, representing and involving staff as appropriateReview and inform updates of the strategic plan as it serves the JCC's missionPartner with the Board of DirectorsWork with the President to plan meeting agendasProvide reports etc. for Board and Committee meetings as requiredWork with President to engage and develop new and existing Board membersWork with the Treasurer to prepare and monitor the annual budgetOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent requiredProven experience working as an employee or board member in a nonprofit organization required; staff supervision and direct Board reporting is a plusKnowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and observance; involvement in the Jewish community is desiredFamiliarity with the Sonoma County Jewish community; maintain primary residence in the county while in this positionWorking knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management, including accounting and budgetingDemonstrated grant writing and fundraising skillsStrong written and oral communication required; demonstrated ability in public speaking desiredComputer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook required; understanding of QuickBooks is a plusDesired skills & experience:Knowledge of relevant employment laws and management best practicesProficiency with commonly-used social media platforms such as Facebook and InstagramDemonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage volunteersDemonstrated experience in the areas of teambuilding and workingExperience in community buildingJCC So Co Office Location:Jewish Community Center Sonoma County1301 Farmers Lane, Suite C103Santa Rosa, CA 95405Send cover letter and resume to
