Job Title: Sr.

Vulnerability Scanning - Security EngineerClearance Required: Active Secret, US CitizenWork Location: Kearneysville, WV or Portsmouth, VA & Remote (hybrid 1-2 days onsite, as required)

Alpha Omega is looking for a focused, driven self-starter to work in a highly dynamic, cross-functional, complex IT environment. The Security Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Vulnerability Scanning team and engineering functions within Cyber Operations Team.The Security Engineer will report directly to the Cyber Operations Project Manager, while independently leading and or conducting enterprise and system-level Security Engineering tasks.

The successful candidate should have experience performing scanning-related tasks; expert verbal and written communication skills; ability to interpret NIST and DoD guidance; and experience with industry tools, such as STIG viewer and ACAS.

Responsibilities:

Performs network vulnerability scanning using ACAS, and performs vulnerability analysis, vulnerability reporting in accordance with the provisions of DoD, DISA, and NIST policies, directives, and guidelines.Diagnoses and resolves ACAS vulnerability scanning credential failures, false positives, scanning issues and reporting issues.Provides detailed reports including data, analyses, and conclusions upon completion of tests, scans, and assessments, including mitigations and, if indicated, appropriate escalation of identified risks and vulnerabilities.Performs other Network Security/Information Assurance tasks as assigned.Leads/Participates in system/security policy and standards development, including writing guidelines, standards, procedures, and other technical documentation.Develop, review, and reconcile IA security policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, and other technical documentation.Perform research to ensure knowledge proficiency remains aligned to technologies and industry best practices.Engage constructively within the team to identify and resolve challenges or exploit opportunities.MUST possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. MUST be comfortable discussing (both verbally and in writing) status and risks/project impacts with all levels of management and project stakeholders.Ability to interpret NIST and DoD guidanceRequired Qualifications:

Five (5) years of related experienceIAT Level II Security Certification, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-MBasic knowledge of common Operating Systems to include, Windows, Unix, Windows Server, Cisco Routers, Firewalls, Proxies, and Switches.Experience with industry tools, such as STIG viewer and ACASPreferred Qualifications:

IAT Level III Security Certification, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program; CISSP or CASP CE certification in good standingBachelor's degree or higher in ITFamiliarity with IAVMs, DISA STIGs, POA&Ms, and related Federal/DoD policies and regulationExperience and familiarity with DevSecOps principles especially in terms of secure coding best practicesBackground in some or all of the following: Networking, Security Engineering, Systems Engineering, Configuration Management.
