Job Description:

Bon Appétit and Epicurious seek a Designer with experience in brand strategy, multiplatform design, typography, and creative ideation. The ideal candidate will also have strong organizational skills as well as a proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment across all platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist with developing concepts and moodboards, collaborating with editors, writers, photographers, and stylists to develop cohesive, unique visual storiesDesign graphics, illustrations and layouts for editorial sections for Bon Appétit and Epicurious across all platformsDevelop and own design for the social team, alongside senior creative leadershipPartner with editors, audience development, video teams, and across all parts of the brand in order to understand design needs and prioritization and to orchestrate projects accordinglyWork with senior creative team members and editors on holistic design approaches to tentpole packages, social media/audience development initiatives, or other brand extensions, including new platforms or product launches, events, and new licensing or other brand initiativesOversee retouching and color correction, as neededAssist with commissioning illustrations and maintaining project schedules, as neededEnsure Bon Appétit and Epicurious branding and design standards are maintained across all internal and external presentationsAssist senior creative team with administrative tasks as needed (expense reports, invoice processing, contract set up, budget tracking, etc.)Contribute to content across platforms as assignedAdditional responsibilities as assignedDesired Skills and Qualifications:

3+ years relevant work experience in media or similar fieldA strong design portfolio and sophisticated aesthetic that reflects multi-platform design experienceHighly organized, detail oriented, and excellent communication skillsComfortable working under pressure and adhering to tight deadlines without compromising qualityProven experience working on design projects from concept to completionWell-versed in SEO best practices and social media trendsExtensive knowledge of Adobe CS software Photoshop and InDesign, After Effects, and other relevant design programsExperience working in animation and motion graphicsWorking knowledge of HTML/CSS and jQuery is idealStrong knowledge of and interest in the food and food media landscape

This is a guild position.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $65,000-$71,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
