The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is seeking an experienced, caring Executive Director to lead our efforts to bring and keep people and pets together. Supported by the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the organization’s direction, operations, finance, fundraising, personnel and management of each department including Administration, the Shelter, Veterinary Clinic, and Animal Care & Control. Driving vision and purpose, the Executive Director is a compassionate leader whose decision making and relationship skills reflect a commitment to the mission of WVHS.
JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW
Leadership and Direction:
Provide leadership and development opportunities to a committed team of 35 +/- staff
Practice and promote good board governance
Develops 3-5 year strategic plan with department managers and the board of directors
Executes strategic plan by supporting staff to meet goals and objectives
Promotes a culture of respect and accountability
Demonstrates professionalism, effective and efficient communications and positive management practices
Monitor, evaluate, recommend and promote programs and services that meet the mission of the organization
Management:
Hires, retains, rewards and supervises administrative personnel
Hires, retains, rewards, supervises and supports Managers of the Shelter, Animal Care & Control and the Veterinarian Clinic
Delegates to administrative personnel to effectively oversee operations, programs, volunteer coordinator, donor development, fundraising, marketing, events, grants, clinic manager, internal and external communications
Takes corrective action as needed up to and including termination
Decides if and when legal counsel is needed to protect the organization
Ensures that the WVHS’s infrastructure effectively and efficiently supports the mission
Consults with Operations and Facilities Managers for maintenance, repair and construction projects
Promotes continuing education opportunities in the field of Animal Welfare for the advancement of staff and the organization
Conducts regular meetings with administration, managers and all staff to communicate current and future plans for WVHS
Facilitates internal and external conflict resolution
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION
Passion for the humane treatment of animals and issues relating to animal welfare
Appropriate bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience in non-profit, Animal Welfare sector
Proven ability to create and execute an annual budget over $2 million
Proven ability to manage, mentor and engage employees
Ability to communicate effectively including verbal, writing and public speaking skills
Able to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings and being “on call”
Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn new software programs
SALARY RANGE & BENEFITS INFORMATION
Hiring range of $90,000 - $125,000, depending upon experience. Relocation offered.
