Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse within the Operating Room, the Surgical Tech completes surgical set-ups according to department standards. The Surgical Tech ensures and is responsible for the care of the patient in the surgical suite, and is responsible for the surgical instrumentation and the preparation of supplies and equipment used, as well as other related duties. Duties include anticipating patient needs at the sterile field, related to preparing for all supplies, instruments and equipment. The Surgical Tech is responsible for implementing knowledge of aseptic technique, practices related to prevention of retained foreign objects, safe medication labeling and handling, anticipatory skills related to the sequence of the procedure, and safe specimen handling.Salary range:
$33.66-$44.40 HourlyQualifications
We're seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with:Must have surgical technician certification from an accredited school or program
requiredMust have at least 2 years' experience and ability to independently scrub on multiple surgical services
requiredBCLS from the American Red Cross and American Heart Association
requiredCardiac experience desiredWorking knowledge of the use, function and operation of all operating room equipmentWorking knowledge of aseptic techniqueWorking knowledge of surgical procedures including anatomy and correct terminologyAbility to provide information, explain policies and procedures to team membersAbility to set priorities, recognize emergency situations and take the appropriate action under the direction of the nurse in charge
