Overview Park ServicesPark Services manages over 900 acres of publicly accessible open space, including 566 acres of publicly owned park land, natural areas, and approximately 30,000 street trees. The Natural Resources section is one of four operational sections of Park Services.

Natural Resource Section: Natural Lands ManagementThe Natural Resource Manager focuses on planning and implementing projects related to the documentation, protection, management, and restoration of natural resource areas within the Natural Resources section. The incumbent supervises contractors, volunteers, and collaborates with City staff to support divisional initiatives and projects. This role requires professional judgment and operates under the general supervision of the Division Chief, Natural Resources. Performance is reviewed based on the evaluation of achieved results.

Key Responsibilities:Coordinate the overall management and administration of a designated City-owned natural resources section.Develop and coordinate the implementation of a comprehensive Natural Resource Management Plan.Collaborate with City staff and supervise contractors and volunteers.Assess natural resources to determine needs and appropriate management practices.Develop, recommend, and monitor operating and capital budgets.

Key Work Projects FY24:Contract Administration: Oversee the development of contracts and monitor contractor work.Habitat Restoration: Restore and enhance native habitats within parks and preserves.Environmental Education: Educate the public about natural resource conservation.Wildlife Management: Protect and manage wildlife populations and their habitats.Invasive Species Management: Control and manage invasive species.

What You Should Bring:Your ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and projects, working both independently and collaboratively with other City departments, staff, and the public is essential. Strong leadership and effective communication skills, both oral and written, are critical. A commitment to public service and providing exceptional customer experiences will be highly valued in this role.

Minimum Qualifications:Four-Year College Degree in biology, environmental education, or closely-related field; three years of experience working in a nature center or related natural science program; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possess Professional Certification in Natural Resources. This position requires successful completion of a criminal records background check and drug screening prior to employment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
