Company Mission:

The mission of NARA NW is to provide education, physical, mental health services, and substance abuse treatment that is culturally appropriate to American Indians, Alaska Natives, and anyone in need.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the agency's CAO, the Human Resource Director serves as the lead HR professional for NARA NW and as a trusted resource to its executives and staff. With the approval of the CAO, the HR Director develops and implements NARA NW's human resources strategy. This position oversees all HR activities in support of the overall business objectives and strategic direction of the organization including employee relations, talent management, change management, organizational development, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, succession planning, recruitment and onboarding, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.

What you will do:

Establishes and implements HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the agency's mission, vision and values.

Works to understand and promote Native culture and values and how they affect how NARA NW employees do their work.

Adheres to, believes in and promotes the agency's legal obligation to prefer Native American candidates for employment and promotion.

Develops HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the agency's strategic plan and overall objectives.

Works with the agency's executive management to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of NARA.

Develops and implements comprehensive compensation and benefit plans that are competitive and cost effective for the agency.

Works to develop employees by ensuring that they are given appropriate feedback, training and opportunities for growth.

Develops and ensures policies and procedures are in place and remain current.

Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state requirements.

Participates in preparing and adhering to the annual budget.

Manages HR staff, conducts performance evaluations, staff development and coaching.

Reviews and conducts employee relation investigations and recommended outcomes.

Participates in and drives results through strategic performance improvement initiatives.

Monitors, maintains and reports on CARF accreditation standards.

Fosters a high-performing culture and drives employee engagement.

Performs other duties as assigned.

We would like to hear from people that have:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.

Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in human resources management in an organization of comparable size and scope.

High level competency with word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Track record of strategically and tactically evaluating and implementing sophisticated HR programs and initiatives.

Ability to build consensus around HR strategy and tactics.

Ability to attract and retain talent and work with and motivate high performance teams.

Ability to project the highest levels of integrity while winning through a consultative and embracing personality.

Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

Expertise in the overall regulatory frameworks associated with HR functions, including benefit plans.

Ability to follow HIPAA policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background and DMV checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

SPHR/PHR/SHRM Certification.

Commitment to Native preference in hiring and promotion.

Experience working with the Native American/Alaska Native and recovery communities.

Demonstrated experience of HR leadership in a non-profit.
