United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential, aiming for an educated, prosperous, and safe Acadiana.Basic Job SummaryThe Director of Finance has overall responsibility for supervising employee benefits administration, organizational accounting and budget management, payables and receivables, cost analysis, risk management, oversight of donations tracking, and procurement of services and products. This role provides strategic guidance to the CEO regarding asset protection, risk management, and financial trends, operating in a professional office environment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFiscal ManagementProvide expertise in financial planning, accounting practices, reporting, and budget management in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Oversee the annual audit process and collaborate with independent auditors.Monitor cash flow and provide trend analysis and forecasts quarterly.Ensure timely financial management including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll deductions, IRS reporting, and month-end reconciliations.Perform cost analysis on major investments and purchases as needed.Prepare budgets for grant applications in consultation with the CEO.Support all councils, committees, and partners of UWA regarding financial matters.Ensure high internal controls for cash management and transactions.Oversee procurement activities and ensure documentation is available for audits.Regularly review and approve journal entries for accuracy.Supervise contract workers to ensure proper recording of receipts.Maintain a secure management system for receivables.Collaborate with the CEO on budget planning and reallocations.Risk ManagementRecommend insurance purchases and ensure annual reviews.Advise CEO on immediate financial risks.Maintain copies of tenant insurance policies.Office Procedures and SystemsUtilize Microsoft Excel extensively.Interpret and implement not-for-profit accounting in compliance with regulations.Analyze and explain monthly financial reports for leadership and boards.Execute special projects as needed.Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, donors, and partners.Create an inclusive atmosphere that aligns with United Way’s values.Teamwork/LeadershipParticipate actively in the Leadership Team.Support the growth and rebuilding of the organization.Model inclusive collaborative behavior.Provide direction to partnering organizations.Job Classification:

Exempt, Full TimeEducation:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in financial management preferred.Requirements Before Hire:Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.Current physical examination.Pass a Louisiana State Police Criminal Background Check.
