Article Student Living is looking for a Vice President of Investments and Development to join our dynamic and expanding team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is important to leading the sourcing, evaluation, structuring, documentation, execution, and closing of student housing investment opportunities. You will collaborate with Article's senior executives across multiple departments to ensure our strategic goals are achieved and surpassed. We are looking for an experienced professional to support senior leadership in determining the go-forward investment and development strategy and target markets.This role is based at our home office in the Fulton Market area. It requires in-office attendance 4 to 5 days per week and extensive travel.You will report to the Head of Investments.Your Mission

Identify, source, and manage student housing investment opportunities across markets, with a primary focus on new development and a secondary focus on acquisitions.Guide, oversee, and perform detailed underwriting and assessment of investment opportunities with support from a team of deal leads, associates, and analysts.Manage the entire life cycle of a deal, including performing due diligence, obtaining entitlements and zoning approvals, engaging consultants, advancing architectural drawings, obtaining permits, sourcing general contractors, and vetting complex cost pricing and schedules.Implement underwritten business plans for developments and acquisitions post-closing.Negotiate legal documents (LOI, PSA, easements, DMA) alongside internal legal and third-party counsel.Present deliverables and memos for executives, the investment committee, and LP, and debt approvals.Support Investment Management in LP equity capital and Debt Capital Markets in construction, acquisition, and stabilized financing raising processes.Work with Development and Construction Management, Property Management, and Asset Management teams to prepare pro formas and budgets and evaluate project and deal feasibility.Position Article Student Living as a leader, premier developer, and investor in the industry.Develop existing networks to support the sourcing of opportunities.Create trusted, permanent relationships with partners, investors, lenders, sellers, consultants, architects, general contractors, and brokers.Hire, train, and manage a high-achieving team of deal leads, associates, and analysts, and selflessly mentor team members in both deal and non-deal settings.Your Track Record:

10+ years of experience in student housing or multi-family development with a history of success is required; acquisition experience is helpful.Existing network of student housing and real estate professionals.Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.Bachelor's degree in real estate, business, finance, civil engineering, architecture, or related field required. MBA or MRED preferred.Your Style:
