Role Description:

The Head of Growth, Country Ocean, is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the ocean freight business within the country. This role focuses on developing and executing strategies to optimize GP margins for Full Container Load (FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL), and drayage services. Key responsibilities include aligning with stakeholders on margin strategies, managing route development initiatives, and leading pricing tool strategy and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

GP Margin Strategy:

Develop and implement strategies to optimize gross profit margins for FCL, LCL, and drayage services.

Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution of margin strategies.

Route Development:

Lead bi-lateral country route development initiatives to expand market presence and enhance network efficiency.

Manage the Route Development Management (RDM) team, providing both functional and disciplinary oversight.

Pricing and RFQ Management:

Drive the OFR pricing activities and ensure timely, competitive responses to RFQs.

Guide and support regions/countries in their pricing and RFQ activities, ensuring local tariffs are updated accurately.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to enhance pricing tools, ensuring they meet business needs.

Customer and Carrier Relationships:

Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers and ocean carriers.

Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while meeting service and transit time targets.

Training and Development:

Provide and develop training materials relevant to pricing and route development.

Ensure competitiveness of the network offering through MTS coverage and pricing updates.

Leadership and Management:

Manage the Ocean Freight Route Development Team and oversee outsourced resources.

Lead cross-functional initiatives at country, regional, and global levels, providing support to Commercial Strategy Teams (CSTs).

Key Qualifications:

Highly experienced manager with a deep understanding of ocean freight management across multiple trades. 10 Years Freight Forwarding NVOCC Experience.

Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and senior management.

Proficient in leading and managing large teams (15-20 Employees), with a focus on cross-functional leadership.

Extensive experience in ocean freight management, including FCL, LCL, and drayage.

Strong leadership skills with experience managing senior-level teams.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Deep understanding of the commercial and operational aspects of ocean freight logistics.
