Description

The Director, Major Giving is a full-time 12 month position responsible to the Vice President, Institutional Advancement. The position is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing all administrative and operational functions for a growing major giving program as part of the TJC’s department of Institutional Advancement (IA). The position strategically builds major giving opportunities in support of priorities of TJC and the Tyler Junior College Foundation (Foundation), a more than $100 million support organization for TJC, the largest of its type in the State of Texas.

Essential Functions and Duties

Primary Responsibilities

Leading and administering a broad major gifts program, serving current and prospective donors that contribute between $10,000 and $100,000, based on priorities of TJC and the Foundation.

Securing support for TJC and Foundation including endowments for student scholarships, faculty awards, academic and student life programs, facility preservation, unrestricted support and other funding priorities.

Building and managing an active portfolio of 75 plus prospective major giving donors through a variety of engagement opportunities with strong emphasis on moves management.

Developing strategies to broaden network of major donors in cooperation with TJC leadership, IA personnel, other major gifts donors and community contacts.

Developing, with appropriate TJC personnel and external vendors, quality collateral materials for major gifts cultivation, fundraising and stewardship.

Working collaboratively with TJC leadership, IA staff and volunteers to ensure positive and purposeful major donor relations.

Working with Manager, Donor Relations and Special Events to develop and implement stewardship activities including recognition of major donors.

Working with Manager, Donor Relations and Special Events to plan and implement strategic, special events that support cultivation, fundraising and stewardship of current and prospective major donors.

Recruiting internal and external volunteers to help with facilitation of major giving initiatives.

With Vice President, collaboratively setting annual goals for major giving.

Securing major gifts commitments (gifts and pledges) of $10,000 or more from individuals, corporations and foundations to achieve annual goals.

Leading planning and implementing cultivation, fundraising and stewardship activities and events in support of President’s Circle, giving society that provides contributions utilized by the TJC president to address priorities of the College.

Recruiting volunteer leadership and committee to help build membership of President’s Circle.

Collaborating with TJC personnel and external vendors to retain and grow support of the President’s Circle.

Planning and implementing special events as needed including yearly stewardship event.

Working with Director, Advancement Operations and COO, Foundation to facilitate renewal and new acquisition appeals.

Representing College and Foundation through participation in community organizations and professional groups.

Playing a vital role in overall fundraising efforts.

Performing other duties as assigned by Vice President.

Secondary Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with Vice President to facilitate leadership giving for various campaigns through IA and the Foundation.

Additional Job Specific Requirements

Three to five years of fundraising experience with emphasis on building, sustaining, and overseeing a major giving program in higher education or a non-profit agency.

Proven experience in successfully raising funds and history in meeting goals.

Flexible schedule with night and weekend hours and occasional travel.
