The Mayor’s Office of Public Policy and Finance is seeking a Fiscal & Policy Analyst, directly reporting to the Mayor’s Budget Director. The primary responsibility of the Mayor’s Office of Public Policy and Finance is to prepare and submit a balanced City budget in June of each year. Other functions include participating in development and monitoring of the administration’s policy initiatives; synthesizing information about budget issues and government operations into clear messaging for City stakeholders; and working on fiscal impacts related to legislative issues.Position Description:

The Fiscal & Policy Analyst is responsible for performing detailed analysis of complex departmental budgets both as part of the annual budget review and throughout the year; building and maintaining relationships with departments and stakeholders; and preparing and presenting policy and budget recommendations to the Mayor’s Budget Director and other Mayoral staff. You will review and analyze annual budget submissions of city departments; prepare and present policy and budget recommendations; monitor department spending and hiring over the course of the year; and act as key contact for budget, policy, and program matters between the Mayor’s Office and city departments. You will often need to summarize complex information and present your summary to decision-makers.Working Hours:

Full-time, 40 hours/week. Additional hours may be required to complete assignments, as needed. In particular, this team works longer hours, including frequent evenings and weekends, during the busiest months of the budget season (March through June). This position is based in San Francisco City Hall with a hybrid work schedule; employees are required to be in-office a minimum of three days per week.Minimum Qualifications:

Strong analytical, quantitative, writing and verbal skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well under pressure and with a variety of individuals, including city department heads and elected officials, Mayoral staff, and community groups; computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Advanced degree (MA, MPP, MPA) in public policy or related field, or 3-5 years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in public policy, public finance, and/or budgeting. Familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area and/or local resident.Application Procedure:
