Responsibilities:
Primary Job Functions and Performance Expectations:Clinical Responsibilities:Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment of the consumerProvides appropriate medication management of the consumerUtilizes assessment data to support a DSM-5 diagnosisDemonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate, resolve the situation or refer the consumer for hospitalization.Effectively collaborates with the collaborating physician if indicated, referral physicians, treatment team members and outside sources in the delivery of clinical services.Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent specific competencies.Evaluates for side-effects of medication, particularly tardive dyskinesia and effectively addresses the problem.Practices appropriate standards of care.Written prescriptions adhere to recommended dose and other information as identified in the PDR.Practices according to the Certified Nurse Practitioner Protocol as outlined by the Alabama Board of NursingPrescribes medications per the approved formulary for Certified Nurse Practitioner as approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and Alta Pointe policy and proceduresSupervision and Consultation:Effectively collaborates with supervising Medical Doctor in accordance with the signed protocol and formulary.Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as neededAccepts and employs suggestions for improvementActively works to enhance clinical skillsClinical Record Keeping:Documents per AltaPointe policy in a timely fashionDocuments appropriate, complete, and clinically comprehensive psychiatric evaluations per AltaPointe policyDocuments in a clear and concise manner, consumer symptoms and treatmentDocuments legiblyCompletes all documentation and paperwork as per AltaPointe policyFollows Department of Medical Records guidelines for documentationReports adverse incidents involving consumers to the Performance Improvement department per AltaPointe policy and procedures for review.Case Load Management:Effectively manages caseload based on consumer needsMeets AltaPointe productivity standards
Qualifications:Possesses current Alabama license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with collaborative physician and holds a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC). One year of PMHNP experience preferred.
