Duties & Responsibilities:Coordinating legislative waivers and standards exception requests is a direct and primary responsibility of PSP (Physical Security Points).Physical Security Specialists develop a mastery of policy related to legislative requirements and Department / Inter-agency physical security standards.Coordinates the surveying of official Chief of Mission and Department facilities and residential properties overseas and domestically, documenting and assessing deficiencies related to standards, and managing and mitigating risk associated with physical security vulnerabilities.Provide in-person briefings or written briefing papers for Department leaders, Department oversight bodies, and other high-level U.S. Government decision-makers.Become thoroughly familiar with their assigned posts' levels of compliance with residential security standards and serve as sources of expertise and advice on residential security countermeasures for RSOs (Regional Security Officers) overseas.Track residential security yearly budgets and ensure compliance with Department funding and budgeting timeline requirements.Serve as primary PSP points of contact for RSOs on the Department's Soft Target program. They serve as Department experts on countermeasures appropriate for soft targets, primarily but not limited to schools overseas attended by children of Chief of Mission personnel.Coordinate soft target funding requests from RSOs in conjunction with OBO elements.Coordinating design reviews of (Overseas Building Operations) OBO projects to ensure compliance with (Overseas Security Policy Board) standards, and domestically, to A Bureau and GSA related to domestic.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):Mastery of physical security principles, methods, and practices as applied to the planning, design, review, and construction of multi-use buildings and compounds, located at sites around the world where the protection of people, information, and property isSubstantive experience as a member of a design and construction team as it pertains to the construction or renovation of diplomatic facilities. Previous multitasking experience is essential to oversee and support multiple complex and diverse security-related projectsComprehensive knowledge and experience involving U.S. diplomatic facilities ranging from embassies, consulates, other foreign affairs buildings, and residences ensuring stringent compliance with applicable security requirements.Demonstrated ability to read, write, and comprehend in English, at a 4th year college level equivalent, technical documents, memorandums, reports, and power point and develop and present ideas and solutions to physical security challenges in accordance with applicableAbility to conduct comprehensive physical security analyses, evaluate compliance, and enforce physical securityAbility to meet and work effectively with a variety of levels of Department bureaucracy and other agencies to develop cooperation and understanding necessary to support security programFamiliarity with roles and responsibilities of foreign affairs and intelligence agencies and the interrelationships at U.S. diplomatic facilities to ensure compliance with appropriate and applicable regulations governing the protection of these facilities, personnel, andAbility to diagnose, isolate, and resolve critical and complex physical security problems associated with the physical security standards that govern the building, planning, design, and constructionMinimum Education:BS/BA in a related field preferred, but not required.
