The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) seeks a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our comprehensive fundraising strategy. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and manages a staff of two, including an individual giving officer and a grant writer.This position brings an opportunity to:Be a part of a leadership team for a dynamic, growing organization and fundraising program. CVI is now serving more people than at any time in its 60+ year history.Collaborate with an engaged board and development committee.Develop staff committed to long-term careers in fundraising and nonprofit leadership.Expand the impact of philanthropy on CVI’s mission and the lives of people experiencing vision loss.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degreeMinimum of ten years’ experience in CDO or development director level roles.Demonstrated success cultivating individual donors and soliciting $25,000+ gifts.Demonstrated success in establishing and stewarding relationships with high-level donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead CVI’s fundraising team. Recruit, supervise, and develop fundraising staff, contractors, and vendors.Develop and implement strategy for CVI’s comprehensive development program, including annual fund, events, board campaign, major gifts, and planned giving.Plan, coordinate, and implement CVI’s major gift program for individuals, corporations, and foundations to meet the organization’s fundraising goals.Develop and implement cultivation activities and personal visits for major and legacy giving donors.Manage event planning staff and fundraising team to ensure adherence to budgets and revenue goals.Oversee all foundation and corporate fundraising activities.Develop and monitor the development budget in collaboration with President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).In collaboration with President and finance team, set annual fundraising goals and implement and monitor strategy to achieve goals.Collaborate with program managers and finance team to monitor and report on the allocation of restricted foundation giving.Participate in CVI board meetings and prepare board reports for development. Serve as staff liaison to the development committee, including planning and organizing meetings and leading and reporting on progress.Actively collaborate with the development committee and other board members to identify and solicit prospects in their spheres of influence.Collaborate with communications and Marketing Director to implement development related communications and outreach.CORE COMPETENCIES:Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.Leadership skills and commitment to developing others.Excellent relational and collaborative skills.Knowledge of Atlanta and the philanthropic community.Enthusiasm for meeting personally with donors and requesting major and leadership gifts.Job Type:
