Main Purpose of JobThe Administrator I encompasses the full performance to second line managerial levels of administrative staff work related to the administration of departmental policy and overseeing or coordinating agency operations or functions. The main purpose for the Administrator I position is to plan, organize, implement, administer, and supervise the interpretation and application of agency policies, directives, and procedures. The Administrator I is responsible for program or project review, development, evaluation and coordination with data integrity and call center. This position is responsible for managing a 5-member unit that administers all aspects of operations in the Licensing Unit; including processing applications for pharmacist licenses, pharmacy permits, distributor permits, pharmacy technician registrations, vaccine certificates, pharmacy intern registrations, and prescription drug repository approvals. The Administrator I position is responsible for supervising the following functions: performing continuing education audits, reviewing applications, and evaluating applicants’ qualifications including receiving and tracking examination scores, college affidavits, criminal background checks and other documents. This position will supervise staff which may be comprised of professional, technical, administrative, and clerical workers. This position receives managerial or executive supervision from a higher-level administrator or executive. The position is responsible for staffing Board meetings and Licensing Committee meetings.

This position is eligible for hybrid telework (40% = 2 DAYS WEEKLY) which is subject to approval from the supervisor.

Minimum QualificationsEducation:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

NotesCandidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Desired Or Preferred QualificationsThe desired candidate should possess:Experience providing instruction and direction to staff who telework and work in the office.Experience and the ability to manage and lead the board licensing committee and represent the licensing team at monthly board meetings.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONSEmployees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
