Attorney-Advisor (General) , you will:Draft, review, and analyze complex regulations necessary to implement the programs and policies of the Department.Resolve policy issues and legal or technical concerns that arise in the course of drafting a regulation.Analyze and summarize public comments on proposed regulations.Assure that proposed rules, regulations, and Federal Register notices are drafted in proper form for publication, that they are consistent with statutes and the legislative history of statutes affecting HUD programs, and that they comply with the requirements of the Federal Register Act, the requirements and policies of the Secretary, the Administrative Procedure Act, Executive Order 12866 and section 7(o) of the Department of HUD Act, and other applicable statutes or regulations.Salary$99,200 - $181,216/yearConditions of EmploymentThe official duty station for this position will be in

Washington, District of Columbia.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as:Experience with Administrative Law and one or more disciplines related to the work of HUD (including, but not limited to, FHA mortgage insurance programs, agency housing programs, real estate law, corporate finance, bankruptcy, federal litigation practice relating to housing or real estate finance, Federal Register drafting, environmental law, or civil rights law);

ANDExperience providing effective advice on difficult and novel legal issues, managing a heavy workload, and developing and maintaining highly collaborative and productive working relationships with senior officials, clients, other agencies and stakeholders, and the public.ANDFor the GS-14, you must:Have a professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) plus four (4) years of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.Have a second professional law degree (LL.M.) plus three (3) years of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.Have a first professional law degree (LL.B., or J.D.), plus superior law student work (academic standing in upper 1/3 of the law school graduating class, high-level honors for academic excellence in law school, winning of a moot court competition with other law schools, significant work or achievement on the school's official law review, significant summer clerkship or other evidence of clearly superior achievement) plus three (3) years of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.Specialized Experience:

ANDExperience providing effective advice on difficult and novel legal issues, managing a heavy workload, and developing and maintaining highly collaborative and productive working relationships with clients, other agencies and stakeholders, and the public.ANDFor the GS-12, you must:Have a professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) plus two (2) years of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.Have a second professional law degree (LL.M.) plus one (1) year of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.Have a first professional law degree (LL.B., or J.D.), plus superior law student work (academic standing in upper 1/3 of the law school graduating class, high-level honors for academic excellence in law school, winning of a moot court competition with other law schools, significant work or achievement on the school's official law review, significant summer clerkship or other evidence of clearly superior achievement) plus one (1) year of professional legal experience, at least one of which must be specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector.
