The Sustainability and Regional EHS Manager is primarily responsible for maintaining environmental compliance and ISO 14001 based environmental management system for site operations and deepening the culture of sustainability and environmental improvements across Sony Electronics and Sony of Canada in North America. Additionally, he/she will manage the North America Regional Environmental and Safety Office (NARESO) to assure conformance with the company’s environmental and occupational health and safety requirements and lead initiatives and audit programs to strengthen Sony’s efforts in environmental sustainability as well as OH&S across applicable Sony group companies in the region.The position will develop, implement, and maintain plans and programs that ensure operational EHS compliance and enhance the performance of site operations while fostering a sustainable culture amongst employees where sustainability is an integral part of the core business value. This position coordinates and collaborates with various departments, sites, group companies, and headquarters in Japan and acts as the functional expert, building knowledge and capacity for EHS management across the organization. He/she will report to the Environmental Director.Key Responsibilities

Manage ISO 14001 certification program and environmental compliance of the operation as an environmental management representative for SEL San Diego and support applicable facilities in the region, ensuring regulatory compliance of facilities, maintaining procedures, permits and other documented information, driving for continuous improvements and reduction of environmental impacts. Work with relevant departments, participating sites, group companies as well as stakeholders and conduct environmental audits of applicable facilities for continual improvement and operational compliance.Ensure that sites and companies under NARESO establish proper metrics and programs to ensure compliance with emerging ESH laws and regulations and achieve Sony’s global goals around EHS. Maintain ISO 14001 and 45001 certificate as NARESO and support applicable sites. Monitor trends and benchmark around sustainability in North America and identify areas of improvement and develop and deploy regional policies and initiatives to address the improvement needs. Facilitate sharing and implementation of best management practices among sites and company operations.Manage EHS data reporting for all facilities under NARESO, ensuring proper and timely reporting. Monitor and analyze site-specific and regional trends and progress toward targets and report it on a regular basis. Support annual data verification audit and manage climate disclosure as well as sustainability reporting requirements.Manage internal and external communication and engagement activities regarding environmental and sustainability initiatives, products, and achievements. Build out employee engagement programs and raise awareness of environmental efforts, collaborating with individuals across the organization. Promote and lead volunteer activities in the communities and maintain relationships with partner organizations and non-profits. Manage programs and events to strengthen Sony’s environmental efforts through collaboration and partnership with various stakeholders. Monitor and manage customer and other stakeholder expectations, inquiries, and requirements on sustainability.Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred field of study includes Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Sustainability, or Corporate Responsibility.Must have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a related field.Good technical understanding of environmental issues, basic ESH compliance requirements and their relationship to various business aspects are required.Experience in managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and ESH auditing as well as operational ESH compliance requirements in North America are strongly desired.Must be detail-oriented and results-driven with keen interests in the sustainability and EHS field.Must be highly motivated to learn and manage additional areas of responsibilities as they emerge.Strong communication and team-building abilities as well as leadership skills required.Must be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with limited direct supervision.Advanced verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of management, employees, and stakeholders required.Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.Proficiency with MS Windows-based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Advanced knowledge with MS Excel as well as any experience with Smartsheet, Jira, and SAP are preferred.The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $111,108 to $148,143. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.Sony Electronics is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values employees with a broad cross-cultural perspective.
