Position Summary

The Digital Marketing Director is responsible for visioning, planning, creating, and directing digital marketing programs that achieve WEDC organizational and marketing goals through the full spectrum of digital marketing techniques. The director provides supervision and mentorship to digital marketing team members to ensure they have the knowledge and skills, tools, and support to succeed in their roles, and serves as a strategic leader to help enhance WEDC’s marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Digital Marketing Director will spend a majority of his/her time in these activities:

Drive digital marketing activities in order to deliver desired results that support WEDC organizational and marketing objectives.

Drive successful execution of WEDC’s digital marketing activities:

Direct the improvement, management, and maintenance of WEDC websites.

Support execution of WEDC’s online advertising campaigns, including search, programmatic, and retargeting.

Drive social media engagement and content distribution plans aligned with WEDC marketing goals.

Oversee the creation, launch, and optimization of email marketing campaigns and marketing automation programs.

Oversee creation and sharing of digital marketing assets for WEDC staff and partner use.

Develop annual digital marketing budget required for WEDC websites, digital tools, and resources required for conducting marketing team operations.

Stay abreast of industry best practices and identify those that can enhance WEDC’s digital marketing programs and channels.

Collaborate with WEDC marketing leaders and external advisors to create a strategy for integrating artificial intelligence into the digital marketing program, positioning WEDC and Wisconsin for success.

Establish quantified goals and measure and track the effectiveness of WEDC digital marketing efforts using existing tools, and identify, evaluate, and recommend new tools and approaches for tracking and measuring the effectiveness of WEDC digital communications.

Supervise two staff positions in achieving all digital marketing team goals, and ensure that staff members have the support, skills, development, and direction to optimally perform assigned tasks.

Identify and leverage additional external resources to ensure timely and high-quality support for WEDC’s digital marketing efforts.

Collaborate with marketing agency partners to ensure close coordination of WEDC digital marketing programs and activities with agency-driven campaigns.

Review and evaluate all technologies currently purchased or licensed by WEDC to operate its digital marketing program; recommend and negotiate changes as necessary.

Serve as a leader and advocate for the Marketing Division inside and outside of the WEDC organization.

Contribute strategic insight and perspective to WEDC’s overall marketing planning and drive digital marketing innovation to enhance WEDC marketing goals.

Serve as an advocate for creative excellence in all marketing activities.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in marketing, business, or relevant field.

Minimum of 10 years of professional agency or client-side marketing experience.

Deep knowledge of digital marketing practices, with proven experience leading digital transformation for business-to-business brands.

Experience in the use of digital marketing tools. Experience in the use of Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus.

Strong team leadership and supervisory capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with comfort providing counsel to senior executives.

Strong intellectual curiosity and high attention to detail.

Ability to employ best practices in grammar, messaging, writing and style.

Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Other Requirements

State-wide travel will occur on an occasional basis, less than 20% of the time. Travel is anticipated to include day and overnight travel.

This position is eligible for reimbursement according to the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program and requires the employee to provide a mobile device that allows for phone, text, and email access.

Based on the responsibilities of this position, this position may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
