The Director, Talent Management is an influential strategic partner and thought leader supporting Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Inc. to include Business Development/Services, Drug Development and Commercial. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources, this individual manages, coordinates and implements organization-wide efforts to ensure that learning and performance management programs are developed and managed using a data driven focus that sets priorities critical to achieving the company’s strategic business objectives. This position will also have responsibility for full life cycle recruitment in sourcing the best talent for Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Inc., as well as maintaining effective programs for retention, promotion and succession planning.

Responsibilities:

Acts as a thought leader and influencer to identify the needs and drive the development and implementation of key talent and learning initiatives across Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma’s businesses.

Designs, develops, and delivers course materials, as required, and leverages best practices in approach and delivery to various audiences.

Consults with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to understand the business dynamics of leadership and developmental needs of their employee population, and the appropriate sponsorship, engagement, and alignment.

Conducts a learning and development needs assessment to define the capabilities required in strategic roles across all areas of the pharma business and identifies gaps to be addressed through learning programs.

Provides expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of the talent review process required to achieve business goals and results.

Develops, initiates and maintains effective programs for workforce learning, retention, promotion and succession planning.

Manages the maintenance and execution of the performance management system, including current job descriptions, standards of performance and performance evaluation instruments.

Conducts presentations and training.

Oversees full life cycle recruitment and develop appropriate and effective recruitment strategies.

Develops and implements creative and innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to build a pipeline of qualified candidates.

Conducts stakeholder analyses to understand the needs and interests of key individuals and groups within the pharma businesses.

Defines, communicates, and achieves stakeholder support for short- and long-term visions for talent and learning initiatives across the business.

Establishes and communicates priorities and implementation timelines to maximize use of available resources to meet priority business needs; communicates what is possible given available resources and what must wait, and aligns stakeholders accordingly.

Uses project management skills to define projects, establish charters, set milestones and timelines, define RACI charts, build communications plans, and manage talent and learning projects. Monitors and communicates ongoing project status to key stakeholders to ensure alignment.

Manages multiple concurrent large projects and associated resources; maintains accountability to scheduled milestones and commitments.

Develops strategy and tactics and leads the organization toward the desired state of continuous learning throughout the organization.

Assumes the role of internal subject matter expert (SME) in designing and developing learning programs unique to Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma businesses.

Manages external learning providers as needed to ensure highest quality levels.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Pharmaceutical experience a plus.

Certification in talent instruments such as DISC, 360-degree assessments a plus.

10+ years relevant Learning & Development experience; broad HR experience to include talent management and performance management.

Proven experience in managing/supporting high performing teams.

Experience leading learning and development initiatives across an organization.

Experience developing and implementing large-scale learning programs.

Experience in managing Talent Acquisition and Applicant Tracking systems.

Experience working and building relationships within a large, matrixed organization.

Must have pharmaceutical industry experience.

Experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover performance management, talent development, coaching, succession planning.

Previous experience capturing metrics and producing various employment reports.

Ability to exhibit professionalism and business acumen while building influential relationships with senior level stakeholders.

Excellent coaching, communications, program and content development, collaboration, influencing and leadership skills.

Strategic, high energy, collaborative leader who has a proven track record of building and implementing effective talent initiatives.

Ability to innovate and challenge current norms to drive organizational change while working with people of varying backgrounds and organizational levels.

Demonstrated ability to translate business strategies into critical learning, talent and workforce requirements.

Ability to determine priorities, and devise and communicate a plan and timeline to achieve the priorities.

Strong skills related to design, development, communication and implementation of learning initiatives and programs.

Solid written and verbal communication skills including public speaking; helpful to have meeting facilitation and learning delivery experience.

Strong skills in vendor selection and management, budgeting, and project management.

Ability to work in a challenging environment with multiple competing deadlines.

Must be a team player with the ability to work independently and be accountable for results.

Proficiency with Microsoft products including MS Office and MS Teams; strong presentation skills and analytical/critical thinking skills.

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Applicant Tracking Systems and HR systems; knowledge of Success Factors specifically is preferred.

Required to travel 5-10% domestically.

The salary range for this position is $155,000 - $264,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

This position is eligible to participate in our annual Short-Term Incentive (STI) program. Specific information about the plan including eligibility rules and target, will be furnished upon hire.
