Protective Security Officer - Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)Pay Rate: $40.24 - $41.44ObjectiveThis position is under the direct supervision of the site supervisors and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers, and all visitors.Essential Functions
Read and understand the English language to effectively carry out printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Communicate in person or via electronic devices with co-workers and the general public. Maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations and compose precise reports as necessary.Job Duties
Perform security patrols.Enforce access control procedures.Protect property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety hazards, and other security-related situations.Assist customers, employees, and visitors in following the department's procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned by a security Lieutenant and/or Project Manager.Candidate Qualifications
Must be a Lawful Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen with a verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the Armed Forces.Must possess a Top Secret Clearance.Must have been issued a Social Security Card.Must be 21 years of age.Must be a high school/GED graduate.Must have 2 years of armed security experience or law enforcement, or 2 years of military service (active duty or reserve) with an honorable discharge.Additional Eligibility Qualifications
The applicant must submit to a pre-employment medical exam and drug screening and pass a background check. The applicant must pass the Fitness Drill Test for Patrol and Response. The test requires completing a stairwell climb of 12 flights of stairs and returning to the start point within 10 minutes.Education Requirements
