40757Washington, DC, US, 20036ProductionWashingtonFull-TimeHybridThe CBS News Washington, DC Special Events/White House unit is seeking a seasoned news Producer who has strong editorial judgment, field production experience, and a firm understanding of network pooling responsibilities within the Washington DC area!Candidates must demonstrate the ability to make quick solid editorial decisions and work collaboratively with various internal and external high-profile partners. It is essential that the Producer be able to work independently and have strong logistical skills. The selected candidate must be adaptable, willing, and able to travel (domestically and internationally), often on short notice for breaking news.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ability to synthesize and disseminate information quickly and accurately with solid news judgment and experience in a breaking news environment.Strong editorial knowledge on a wide range of domestic and international news.Serve as a strong field producer with the ability to lead the team, handle story and coverage schedules, manage on-site crew and editorial requests.Ability to work in a satellite truck and produce simultaneous live shots.Qualifications:
Minimum five years’ editorial experience.Production experience is a plus working at a news organization with proven field experience.Strict adherence to the highest journalistic standards.Solid reporting and writing skills.Must have solid news judgment and experience chasing breaking news.Must be able to juggle and prioritize multiple stories and tasks with different deadlines: short, medium, and long-term responsibilities.Ability to work long hours as news dictates which could include working on regular days off, weekends, and overnight, with short notice.Ability to travel with short notice both domestically and internationally.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to listen and receive feedback.Must be a team player with a positive outlook.Thrives in a high-pressure and deadline-driven environment.Proficiency at shooting with a prosumer-style camera, capturing clean audio using hardwired and wireless microphones, and setting up basic lighting.Proficiency at editing using Adobe Premiere, Avid, or Final Cut Pro.Valid driver's license with unrestricted ability to drive required.Must have a U.S. passport with unrestricted ability to travel domestically and internationally.College Degree in broadcast journalism, history, political science, or related field preferred, but not required.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONHiring Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 140,000.00.The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
