We offer a comprehensive benefits package which features:Significant employer 403(b) contributionPublic transportation subsidyGenerous paid time off programTuition reimbursementWellness programWhy us, why now?Reporting to the Controller, the Manager of Tax and Compliance is responsible for planning, reviewing, and supervising the compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting of all tax-related matters for the Association of American Medical Colleges. Specifically, this position interprets the Internal Revenue Code for all federal tax filings and the code from each jurisdiction in which the association is registered. Responsible for monthly sales tax filings, annual federal and state tax filings, preparation of all business compliance filings, and the tax-related information included in the Association's audited financial statements. The position also supports tax compliance with the Association's retirement plans and state and local employment tax requirements.How will you make an impact?Plans, reviews, and supervises the management of the Association's compliance with all applicable tax and business regulations. Interprets applicable codes and establishes means to implement effective procedures for compliance. Acts as liaison between the Controller's Office, the Association's business units, and external tax and compliance service providers for all tax and business compliance-related matters.

Responsible for the coordination and review of all federal and state tax filings, state corporate filings, business compliance filings, payroll and retirement plan reporting filings (i.e. Form 990, Form 990-T, Form 941, Form 5500, unclaimed property, sales tax, state business license and charitable filings, etc.).

Evaluate and Prepare FIN 48 to analyze and disclose income tax risk. Support and monitor lobbying requirements, census and regulatory reporting.

Collaborate, mentor, and provide training, guidance and oversight as needed, to members of the finance team to ensure that tax and compliance support work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

What you'll bring to the roleRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting, taxation, finance or related field from an accredited college or university, or:Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.Non-profit tax and financial experience.4-6 years of relevant experience.Preferred Education and Experience:Master's degree or equivalent.Field of study in Taxation preferred.5-8 years of relevant experience.Working experience with Workday Financial and Avalara, Vertex Tax, or similar software.Working experience either as a tax preparer or advisor for a large non-profit organization.Remote Work EligibilityThis position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US.Compensation Grade Range and Mid-PointGrade Range: $93,500.00 - $173,700.00 / Grade Mid-Point: $133,600.00. The above annual compensation range and mid-point are general guidelines. For candidates who meet the criteria, the AAMC's compensation philosophy is to target the midpoint of the salary range. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions.
