MECHANICAL INSPECTOR LEAD

Reports to:

Quality Manager

Summary:

As the Mechanical Inspector Lead, you will be pivotal in overseeing and ensuring the highest quality standards for materials and products moving through our facility. You will lead a team of inspectors in performing both in-process and final inspections, ensuring that all materials conform to dimensional specifications and quality requirements. Your role includes managing inspection activities, mentoring team members, and ensuring that all documentation and inspection data are accurately recorded and reported.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor a team of Mechanical Inspectors, providing guidance and training to ensure adherence to inspection standards and procedures.

Inspection Oversight:

Lead in-process and final inspections to verify material accuracy and conformity with technical drawings and specifications.

Documentation and Reporting:

Ensure all inspection data is meticulously documented and reported in the correct format, maintaining clear traceability.

Defect Management:

Identify product defects, lead investigations, and initiate corrective actions to resolve quality issues.

Equipment Management:

Oversee the maintenance and calibration of inspection tools and equipment, reporting any issues and ensuring their optimal functioning.

Process Improvement:

Develop and implement inspection procedures and best practices to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.

Approval and Release:

Approve product deliveries for release and manage warehouse access booking following successful inspection outcomes.

Advanced Tool Operation:

Operate and program 3D coordinate measuring machines and other advanced inspection tools.

Qualifications and Skills:

Leadership Experience:

Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a mechanical inspection or quality assurance environment.

Technical Expertise:

Strong proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Quality Management Systems:

Preferred experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 certified Quality Management Systems (QMS).

ERP Systems Knowledge:

Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP is desired.

Certification:

Active IPC-610 certification within the past 2 years is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Experience with mechanical inspection tools, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), vision systems, verniers, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauge pins, etc.

Expected Pay:

$60,000-$75,000
