WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:As a Payments Architect and Director of Solution Architecture for the Fundraising and Marketing Technology Group (FMTG) you will play a critical role in the development of payment processing systems at the American Red Cross. You will work directly with business units such as Treasury, Consumer Fundraising and Gift Processing to ensure new payment platforms conform to architectural best-practices and ensure that systems are built in a supportable fashion.The Payments Architect position is a new one, and you will have the ability to define the role and shape the way the Red Cross approaches the design of payment systems. Additionally, as a director at the American Red Cross, you will anchor a team of architects working on a diverse set of fundraising and marketing systems, managing and mentoring high-performing technical professionals and orchestrating efforts across several workstreams.The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home with a preference to work an East Coast schedule to support team and clients. (Core Working Hours 9:00am-5:00pm Eastern)

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

Design and oversee the implementation of payment systems, ensuring they meet business requirements, industry standards and regulatory compliance.Define APIs and design a payments orchestration layer. Work with APIs and systems such as Braintree/Paypal, Chase Paymentech, Apple Pay/GPay, peer-to-peer and contactless payment platforms.Ensure the security and compliance of payment systems architecture with relevant policies, regulations, and best practices.Direct the work of software engineers and vendors, where appropriate, providing technical leadership and oversight.Provide expert guidance on technology trends, emerging tools, and best practices.Collaborate with IT and cross-functional teams to integrate technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and capabilities of fundraising and marketing systems.Develop and maintain the department's technology architecture roadmap, aligning it with the strategic plan and mission.Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of architectural standards, tools, and processes.Review and evaluate project and initiative feasibility and technical approach.Manage and mentor a team of architects, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Manage capacity planning to ensure sufficient, efficient, and effective resourcing for IT services.WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture or engineering5 years in a direct staff management role.Four or more years of experience architecting and building payment processing systems. Must have experience with Braintree/Paypal and/or Cybersource, Chase Paymentech, Apple Pay and GPay. Strong preference given to candidates who have built peer-to-peer solutions or worked with contactless payments.Four or more years of experience with Fraud Management technology and PCI standards.Three or more years of experience developing applications with object-oriented programming or expertise in a modern scripting language.Background in cloud-computing and Data Warehouses, with preference given for work with the Redshift platform.Experience working with major CDN networks (Akamai, Cloudflare, etc.) is preferred.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a collaborative environment.Commitment to the non-profit sector and its values.Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.*
