This position plays a crucial role in identifying and engaging alumni, parents, and friends with an affinity for and interest in supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs from across campus. This role will drive leadership annual gifts in the short term, with a focus on building a substantial pipeline of STEM donors and prospects at the mid and major gift levels within 3-5 years of engagement. The role serves as a major gift fundraiser responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding prospects and donors. He/She manages a portfolio of 125 leadership annual prospects in designated regions and will focus on building/maintaining a portfolio of alumni, parents and friends by creating and implementing strategies for cultivating and soliciting prospects who have the capacity and inclination to make gifts/commitments of $100,000 or more.Implement strategic plans to increase philanthropic support for STEM programs, centers, research, scholarships, and funds. Organize and participate in events and face-to-face and virtual meetings to increase support for Syracuse University’s STEM programs within the designated regions. Collaborate extensively with partners in academic and central units across the University to build and engage this portfolio.Education and Experience:Three (3) plus years of successful fundraising experience or related experience within a higher education setting preferred.Proven experience in personal solicitations and relationship building preferred.A valid Enhanced Driver’s License and Passport are required.Skills and Knowledge:Experience in STEM-related fundraising initiatives at the leadership annual, midsized, and/or major gift levels.Education and/or professional experience in STEM fields, providing the ability to quickly build fluency in priority programs and effectively communicate with prospects and donors with this affinity.Ability to analyze data to inform engagement strategies and measure success.Strong collaborative skills to build relationships both internally and externally.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Interest in exploring and utilizing innovative technologies to enhance engagement and solicitation efforts.Familiarity with donor database systems and CRM software.Responsibilities:Manage a portfolio of 125 leadership annual prospects in designated regions and primarily targeting suspects with an affinity for STEM-related fields.Implement strategic plans to increase philanthropic support for STEM programs, centers, research, scholarships, and funds.Organize and participate in events and face-to-face and virtual meetings to increase support for Syracuse University’s STEM programs within the designated regions.Collaborate extensively with partners in academic and central units across the University to build and engage this portfolio and implement strategic plans to cultivate and solicit mid-level to major gifts.Identify, qualify, solicit an identified prospecting pool through sustained discovery efforts.Analyze data independently, prioritize outreach, and conduct targeted interactions.Maintain regular communication through emails, virtual and face-to-face visits, phone calls, and handwritten notes.Ensure effective communication of qualification outcomes with colleagues and partners, sharing leads and planning next steps to drive deeper engagement.Identify and create donor opportunities consistent with the initiatives of the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, as well as campus partners in STEM areas, to enhance engagement, interaction and outreach to foster lifelong connections between alumni and the University.Utilize the database of record (CITRUS) to meticulously update strategic plans, opportunities, interactions, outcomes, and next steps.Through this, contribute to the research and ensure the accuracy of alumni records, always with the goal of enhancing engagement and building stronger relationships.Other duties as assigned including special projects utilizing new technologies and innovations to personalize and enhance donor engagement and solicitation efforts.Application Instructions:
