Office of Youth and Young Adult MinistryPiscataway, NJPresently, the Diocese of Metuchen is seeking a Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry who will oversee, direct, and deliver a comprehensive program of services that formulate and communicate the vision of youth and young adult ministry within the Diocese. The leadership of the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry should flow from their own evident and engaged faith as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Primary duties and responsibilities include the following:

Act as a principal advocate for ministry to and with youth & young adults in parishes, on campuses, and within all diocesan agencies/institutions.

Develop creative and implement comprehensive programs and services that provide formation for youth and young adults in the spirit of the new evangelization.

Develop creative and innovative workshops, seminars, retreats and meetings that support faith development and discipleship.

Establish programs and initiatives aimed at the ongoing formation of youth leaders, adult volunteers and professional youth ministers; Develop comprehensive youth ministry to address the needs of young people of all ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Collaborate with pastors, parish leaders, Catholic Campus Chaplains, the Office of Catholic Schools, Catechesis, Family Life/Respect Life, Ethnic Ministries and other diocesan organizations; Act as a resource for youth ministry to parishes across the Diocese, including those looking to revitalize their current program(s); Educate clergy, lay leaders, parents and youth in the Diocese about youth ministry.

Continuously interact with Parish Coordinators of Youth Ministry throughout the Diocese supporting and providing reference materials for their parish programs.

Communicate the mission of the office effectively through various publications and types of meetings.

Utilize social media (Facebook, X (Twitter), etc.) as a communication tool for events and outreach.

Perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be highly proficient in the use of technology. Additional qualifications include the following:

Must be a Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church,

Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Ministry/Religious Studies, Applied Theology, or Ministry or related course of study.

Minimum 5 years of experience in youth/young adult ministry.
