Job DescriptionResponsible for project fiber optics network infrastructure architecture design. Addresses essential details such as conceptualizing, planning, installation, training and sustainment of the approved design solution. Is responsible for creating and updating documentation and drawings for inside and outside plant in collaboration with stakeholders.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesEngagement with customer stakeholders to collect and validate requirements.Conduct end-to-end technical design planningProvide data & voice fiber optic infrastructure systems analysis, security, data center planning & designProvide impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutionsReview construction drawings to identify integration risks and opportunitiesDevelop specifications for interfaces from existing to new systemsProvide schedules, budgets and project criteria for physical design and layouts.Provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimations of a project's level of effort and cost to completeProvide detailed Master Equipment List (MEL) to meet project design requirementsCoordinate directly with vendors for quotes & cost estimatesCreate, inform, organize and maintain all revisions and final as-built fiber optic drawingsCreate and evaluate reports, drawings, system description documents (SDD) and calculationsProvide quality standards and training to operational customer teamsAdvise project teams of technology standard requirements, methodology and processesEnable short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolioParticipate in proof of concepts to assist in defining and enabling technology strategyApply standards to ensure compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platformsMaintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations
Required QualificationsB.S in computer systems engineering, electronics engineering, computer science or related field (10+ years of relevant work experience is also acceptable)Knowledge & experience with Fiber Optic data center network infrastructureAbility to write architectural design documents and accurately review designs provided by othersKnowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needsMust have a thorough knowledge of computer network technology, design and product implementationPossesses excellent management, organizational and strong written and oral communicationsAbility to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment and appropriately prioritize tasks, and keep abreast of the latest technologyCapability to work with people in different time zones
