Description: The Vice President (VP) of Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Development and Operations will implement operational best practices in existing centers, support onboarding of new centers, serve as ASC interim administrator and / or regional leader when needed, and lead ASC related special projects in various geographies. The VP will lead and execute organizationally significant initiatives under and with support from the Chief Administrative Officer to advance IntraHealth Group's (IHG) operational and strategic priorities. These priorities include but are not limited to:

Patient safety and quality of care

ASC Partner and physician customer relationship management

Volume growth and favorable financial performance

Continuous process improvement

Effective project management in budget, time, and outcome

Job Responsibilities

Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience

Monitor, evaluate, and report on relevant quality, safety, and patient experience measures.

Champion continuous improvement in quality, safety, and patient experience within and beyond the ASCs.

Lead and participate in quality, safety, and patient experience related process improvement efforts.

Physician Relations

Develop relationships with and support ASC owners/leaders and other physician partners, focusing on increased engagement.

Utilize IHG's resources to drive value for partnerships and ensure a positive and honest view of IHG's value to each facility.

Participate in Governing Board meetings and Partnership meetings, as appropriate, including sharing business plans, budgets, and operational metrics as requested, highlighting how ASC physician partners impact results and how to utilize data in performance management.

Support communications with Hospital Partners and physician partners about any/all relevant partnership matters.

Assist location specific ASC Administrators in managing equity transactions and ensuring the proper processes are followed.

Conduct in-person meaningful discussions with physicians about succession planning.

Participate in new physician recruiting and develop strategies to earn more business from existing utilizers.

Solidify and enhance overall ASC Anesthesia support.

Operations Support and Financial Management

Create a culture of accountability with clear KPI’s that local ASC administrators will be measured against.

Provide P&L, BS, AR, budget, and business plan development training to local ASC administrators including how to think about, interpret and ultimately act on financials.

Manage and reduce expense through process improvement, vendor negotiations, and other related initiatives

Partner with revenue cycle leaders to improve front and back-end revenue cycle efficiency.

Identify and execute opportunities to improve operational efficiency and grow volume.

Support IHG functions with prompt submission of requested data including weekly volume projections.

Support Chief Financial Officer or ASC Lead Financial Executive to ensure operational and cost discipline.

HR and Interim Leadership

Maintain a presence at each center, developing trusting relationships with team members.

Provide interim leadership at centers as necessary followed by seamless transition to the permanent leader.

Perform talent assessments and support professional development for effective succession planning so that high potential Admins/BOM’s/DON’s are training their replacements.

Engage with Human Resources to reduce turnover and create a culture that attracts and retains talent.

ASC Development

Lead the development and design of new, and modification of existing ASCs

Partner with other leaders to identify, evaluate and effectuate DENOVO operations

Manage the development, tracking, and accountability for new ASC performance goals

Support integration and onboarding of new ASCs into IHG

Compliance and Regulatory Management

Prepare, with legal support, applications to the State for CON, Licensure Approvals, and CMS approval

Manage and ensure readiness for one time and ongoing regulatory surveys and reviews

Continuous cadence and touch base with IHG's compliance and legal resources to ensure the portfolio of centers is being safeguarded.

Oversee and develop best practice workflows for credentialing and recredentialing

Consistent adherence to the escalation policy.

Requirements:

Prefer Master’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration. Equivalent experience considered.

Minimum five years’ experience with exposure to healthcare business development & operations, finance and business consulting

Demonstrated experience in driving operational performance, developing growth strategies and strong people management skills.

Excellent verbal, written and formal presentation communication skills.

Ability to work well with “C” level healthcare partners, physicians, employees, patients, and fellow workers.

Strong critical and strategic thinking skills

Excel & PowerPoint analytical and presentation skills are required.

Strong financial acumen and ability to effectively articulate key business drivers, financial and operational performance metrics and results

Strong mathematical aptitude to aid in financial budgeting, reporting and analysis.

Up to 75% travel required.
