Our client is a leading commercial GC in California and Washington and they are seeking an

Commercial Construction Estimator

for their

San Diego, CA

location. An Estimator by trade prepares/coordinates preparation of full estimates on conceptual or large work. This individual will provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on CM or complete total bid price for GC work. They will deal with owners, A/E's and contractors to resolve technical and/or value engineering matters during negotiation and contract execution. Additionally, they will perform all functions and responsibilities in consonance with company's values and beliefs and in alignment with the company's mission.

The Senior Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects. This includes analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.Duties & Responsibilities

Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.

Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and develop accurate estimates.

Prepare and present cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and other costs.

Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.

Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans for potential project challenges.

Maintain and update cost databases and historical cost records.

Provide input on value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.

Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules.

Monitor project costs during construction to ensure adherence to budget.

Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods.

Mentor and train junior estimators, providing guidance and support.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in [insert specific industry or type of construction].

Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors.

Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator, AACE Certification) is a plus.
