30-bed

medical/surgical unit providing care to children of all ages with acute and chronic medical and surgical disease processes. Common disease processes include

trauma, renal disease, urological disease, liver disease, asthma, and sickle cell disease, among other medical and surgical illnesses . Nurses have the unique opportunity to provide care to a diverse patient population. The unit emphasizes family centered care through a multidisciplinary team approach and patient/family education. The unit treats patients in the ages of infancy, to those yet to transition to adult care. The acuity mix for this unit is higher than the typical acuity for most Med/Surg units.
