Position Summary : Oversees, leads, and manages the collection of delinquent loans, shares and accounts at risk to ensure effective recovery results. Ensures strict compliance with state and federal credit and collection rules and regulations in all collection practices, while balancing that with an effective member experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures that credit and collection policies, procedures, practices, and documentation meet all local and federal regulations including but not limited to: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Analyze weekly and monthly department reports to spot trends and take appropriate action as needed.

Scope and prepare reports to demonstrate collection effectiveness as needed.

Create, set, monitor, and coach to performance standards and goals.

Optimize collection processes in order to constantly improve workflow.

Oversee and monitor vendors to ensure the best interest of the Credit Union is well represented.

Create, update, and enforce procedures related to the entire collection life cycle.

Monitor and ensure timely action regarding Credit Union assets to achieve maximum recoveries.

Guide decision and support staff in resolving complex and/or difficult non-routine member issues including those that require management approval for monetary losses.

Timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledgers and review of collection related invoicing.

Present, obtain or make decisions on any legal proceeding related to an account in collections within documented authority to ensure the best interest of the Credit Union is well represented.

Effectively lead, coach, train, and develop team members and leaders.

Responsible for accuracy of bankruptcy reporting in core system and attend hearings when necessary.

Create, evaluate and enforce the job description or job performance of team members to ensure quality work and service to members.

Effectively handle escalated situations as needed.

Participate in and lead projects as required.

Maintain and promote practices that maintain protection of member information and organizational confidentiality.

Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Education:

Knowledge of Federal and State lending and collection laws

Strong organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Effective Microsoft Office skills, e.g., Word, Excel, Adobe, and Nuance PDF documents

Effective and professional verbal, written, listening and negotiation skills.

Effective and decisive decision making within authority.

Minimum education: High school diploma

Five years or more of collection leadership experience

Beneficial Education and Experience:

Degree, advanced schooling, or specialized training desirable

Collection experience in a financial institution desirable

Bilingual (Spanish) helpful

Physical Factors:

Sitting: frequent use of computer, mouse, and phone/headset while in a seated position.

Carrying: occasional need to carry up to 20 pounds.

Climbing Stairs: frequent use of stairs in building.

Vision: on a computer majority of the day.

Job Type : Full-time

Pay : $96,066.74 - $144,100.11 per year
