We are seeking a dynamic
Chief Technology Officer
(CTO) to lead our client company's technology strategy and execution. The CTO will play a critical role in shaping product architecture and ensuring the successful management of our development teams, including offshore engineers. This position requires a strong technical leader with a deep understanding of marketing solutions for retail environments, as well as experience in cybersecurity and team management.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a technology strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives and enhances product offerings in the retail sector.
Lead and manage a diverse team of developers, including approximately 25 engineers in South Africa and 5 in the US, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Oversee the design and architecture of technology solutions, ensuring they are scalable and secure and effectively deliver marketing messages in physical retail environments.
Collaborate with product management and other cross-functional teams to define technology requirements and deliver high-quality products that meet customer needs.
Manage relationships with external technology partners and vendors, ensuring service level agreements are met and technology solutions are effectively integrated.
Ensure the security and integrity of the company's technology infrastructure, with a focus on cybersecurity best practices.
Build and maintain a robust DevOps capability to enhance the efficiency of the development and deployment processes.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the business and identifying opportunities for innovation.
Potentially serve as an executive board member, contributing to strategic decision-making at the highest level.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong background in software development and architecture.
Proven experience managing large teams, including offshore development teams, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Deep understanding of product architecture and how different components work together.
Familiarity with delivering marketing solutions for physical retailers and fast food companies is highly desirable.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, with experience in implementing security measures in technology solutions.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
