Summary:The Vice President, Payer Contracting and Rush Health, reporting to the RUSH EVP/Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for leading RUSH Payer Contracting and RUSH’s Clinically Integrated Network/Accountable Care Organization. S/he will oversee a large team of approximately 90 people, including 5 direct reports: Chief Medical Officer, AVP of Contracting, AVP of Operations, and a Compliance Officer.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required.

Master’s degree is required.

10+ years of experience working in healthcare

10+ years of experience leading successful care management programs

10+ years of management experience with demonstrated success in meeting financial and strategic goals

A proven track record in successfully leading the payor contracting function is required, including experience in value-based contracting. Prior experience leading an ACO/CIN is preferred. Must have a passion for population health and driving positive change.

Experience in new program development and customer service-oriented program management

Experience successfully leading and managing a team in a change environment

Experience working in a multi-facility health system or large academic medical center

Experience working within an insurer environment

Physician Practice Management experience

Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work collaboratively

Collaborative approach with executive leadership, and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams to meet goals and improve organizational performance.

Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:In this role, the Vice President is responsible for developing and executing systemwide payor contracting strategy for the entirety of the RUSH clinical enterprise (including Rush Health), ensuring RUSH is appropriately recognized for the value delivered in the communities served. This includes ongoing contract management and payor relations.

Additionally, this role is responsible for leading Rush Health. This function includes:

Strategically growing the number of providers in Rush Health in alignment with the growth strategies of RUSH and the Rush Health board.

Identifying, developing and managing programs that promote and strengthen the quality initiatives and clinical integration between the participating members of Rush Health, achieving maximum payout on value-based contracts

Creating and implementing business products and strategies which highlight RUSH’s commitment to clinical excellence

Effectively engaging and managing the Rush Health board

Ensuring maximum financial benefit of value-based contracts across all Rush Health participants

Establishing and effectively utilizing financial and operational performance tracking

Serves as advisor and provides guidance on referring physician communications and other strategies.

Collaborates with entity operations and clinical leaders to ensure alignment of payor strategies

Provides strategic leadership, mentorship, and guidance to leadership team as well as employees at all levels.

Builds effective working relationships with applicable internal and external stakeholders ensuring and fostering a high level of collaboration.

Manages, develops, and coaches team to enable professional growth.

Develops, implements, and manages innovative and collaborative clinical and administrative programs which ensure effective contracting strategies and payor relations.

Develops, implements and manages quality and care management initiatives (e.g. population health, disease management, wellness, patient education, “pay for performance”, utilization management, and transparency) which focuses on process and outcomes.

Develops and implements pricing and contracting strategies, as well as business development programs and services which support RUSH and Rush Health goals.

Manages the negotiation and management of payor contracts with third party entities for RUSH and Rush Health.

In collaboration with RUSH’s analytics team, develops and implements comprehensive analytical systems and processes that support contracting and clinical performance improvement activities, ensure internal and payor compliance with contract terms, and track contract performance.

Manages relationships with payors, employers and brokers
