Phathom Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel treatments for gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. We have licensed the exclusive rights in the United States, Europe, and Canada to vonoprazan, a first-in-class potassium-competitive acid blocker (PCAB). Phathom currently markets VOQUEZNA (vonoprazan) tablets for the treatment of heartburn associated with Non-Erosive GERD in adults, the healing and maintenance of healing of Erosive GERD in adults and associated heartburn in adults, as well as VOQUEZNA TRIPLE PAK (vonoprazan tablets, amoxicillin capsules, clarithromycin tablets) and VOQUEZNA DUAL PAK (vonoprazan tablets, amoxicillin capsules) for the treatment of
H. pylori
infection in adults. In addition, the company is also advancing its development program across multiple acid-related GI disorders, including As Needed dosing for Non-Erosive GERD and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE).We believe we can change the status quo of treatment for acid-related disorders and have assembled a team of seasoned GI and pharmaceutical industry experts with deep expertise in developing blockbuster therapeutics, including anti-secretory agents. The Area Sales Director will report directly to the Vice President of Sales and will be a member of the senior sales leadership team within the Phathom’s commercial organization. The Area Sales Director will be a key contributor to the design, creation, and leadership of Phathom’s inaugural sales team. The successful candidate will build and lead a GI focused sales team responsible for launching the vonoprazan franchise, including H-pylori and GERD launches. This position will work closely with internal partners to hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performing sales team. He/She will provide strong leadership and direction to maximize business opportunities and work collaboratively with other key functions to address customer needs. He/she will play a key role in planning and executing growth strategies to enable the successful launch of vonoprazan.
Area:
West - covers states in Central, Mountain and Pacific Time Zones (states including MO, IL to West Coast)
Responsibilities:
Leads and manages team of Regional Sales Managers who lead teams of sales representatives
Builds and directs sales leadership team to attract, train, motivate, and retain an industry-leading sales team
Assists with the design and creation of functional sales capabilities including training, sales operations, incentives, and territory management
Works collaboratively with Marketing to ensure that strategies are being fully communicated to sales team and executed according to plan
Develops, aligns, and implements business plans at all levels of the sales team
Fosters innovation and entrepreneurial thinking in sales approaches
Works collaboratively with Compliance to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of business
Cultivates and maintains relationships with key large group practices and thought leaders in gastroenterology within assigned geography
Works collaboratively with Human Resources Business Partner to ensure that direct reports and their team members in the field effectively and routinely evaluate, develop, and advance top talent while identifying areas of opportunity for entire field team
Requirements:
At least 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry
Experience leading the commercialization of both primary care and specialty biopharmaceutical products
Bachelors’ degree, MBA preferred, and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in specialty pharmaceutical sales, including field sales management and product launch experience
Demonstrated strong competency in inspiring and developing high-performing, ethical, team-oriented sales leaders
Experience as a member of a senior commercial team responsible for developing and implementing a fully-integrated brand and launch plan encompassing professional promotion, payer/managed care, forecast and incentives, territory, and account plans;
Entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to foster relationships, and the ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions
Demonstrated ability to launch and build market-leading, first-in-category brands
Proven ability to provide leadership, vision and direction within a fast moving, challenging and energetic corporate environment.

Base Salary Range: $230,000 - $290,000 annual
