Reston, Virginia or Indianapolis, IndianaRolls-Royce is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Defense, to join our global legal team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our Defense business teams, primarily those located in the US. You will report to the Rolls-Royce General Counsel for Defense and North America.We are looking for a smart, experienced lawyer who is committed to delivering excellent legal advice and modeling ethics and integrity. In this role, you will have opportunities to advise on a range of issues, including government contracts counseling, cybersecurity, and corporate governance. You will partner closely with our US Defense business and program teams, working collaboratively to develop thoughtful solutions to complex challenges.This role may be based in Reston, Virginia or Indianapolis, Indiana. A flexible remote/in-office arrangement is available, requiring 3 days per week in the office. Some travel will be required.Key Accountabilities:Provide legal advice on matters impacting the US Defense business, including regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, claims and disputes, and investigations.Proactively engage with business leaders and functional stakeholders to understand risks, implement best practices, and develop solutions.Advise on U.S. federal government contracting questions in connection with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).Basic Requirements:Juris Doctor degree from a US law school with 5+ years of relevant legal experience advising on federal government contracting.Admission and status in good standing with the state bar applicable to the location, or eligible to be licensed through reciprocity or eligible to practice as Corporate Counsel in accordance with relevant state rules.Eligible to obtain and maintain a US DOD security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.Preferred Requirements:7+ years of relevant legal experience advising on federal government contracting.Strong knowledge of US FAR and DFARS, and experience supporting government contractors as prime and subcontractors in US FAR Part 15 and Part 12 Contracting.Experience supporting early lifecycle and R&D programs.Experience advising on government cybersecurity and data protection requirements.Experience managing internal teams and outside counsel.Experience communicating with senior audiences.Strong organizational skills, ability to lead in ambiguous circumstances, and ability to prioritize and manage a range of responsibilities.Close Date: September 19, 2024
