Join the City of Bothell’s Legal Department as the next Supervising Attorney of the City's Prosecution office and tackle the criminal legal challenges of a growing municipality! In this role, you will provide professional legal services and represent the City in diverse court proceedings, including criminal gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors, civil traffic infractions, and animal control cases, all while overseeing the prosecutorial office.Note:All City civil work is addressed through an outside consultant.If you are currently practicing law in another state, you must obtain a Washington Bar License before employment begins.What will you do in this position?Manage the City’s prosecutorial office, including staffing, hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, and staff development.Provide legal representation for the City in various court cases, including criminal, misdemeanor, civil traffic infractions, tow hearings, forfeitures, and animal control issues.Manage and analyze case evidence, research the law, develop arguments, write briefs, and interview.Advise city staff on criminal law and regulations and oversee process to ensure compliance and integrity in prosecution.A successful candidate in this position will:Exhibit exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain collaborative relationships with city leaders, elected officials, legal department staff, community leaders, representatives from other governmental agencies, and the public.Evaluate and prioritize various tasks, projects, and demands.Recognize and foster the implementation and acceptance of constructive change within the workplace.We are committed to being a safe, equitable, and inclusive workplace and community.The City of Bothell is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing equal opportunity for all employees and applicants.
